With the K-903's dual-well design, two auto-reverse-equipped cassette transports provide tremendous versatility for simple copying as well as relay-record and relay-play functions. With the K-903, unattended play can extend for three hours using C-90 tapes. Two-speed dubbing permits quick copies--or dub at the standard, originally recorded speed--while a choice of Dolby B or C noise reduction provides recordings with high signal-to-noise ratios and ensures compatibility with most existing recorded cassettes. CD/tape synchro start activates the tape deck when it senses the audio signal from a CD player. During playback, Music Search will fast-forward or rewind until the deck senses a break in the recorded sound, providing an easy way to scan a tape for a desired track. A 12-segment peak-level meter simplifies recording-level adjustment. The meter is a peak-holding type, which helps set record levels to avoid distortion caused by short, transient peaks. The deck automatically senses the type being used (chrome, metal, or ferric) and adjusts bias and equalization for the particular tape. A four-digit tape counter provides an accurate way to locate a tape segment. Finally, a front-panel headphone jack permits private listening, so a cassette can be enjoyed without disturbing others in the room.
