 Works Great January 6, 2009
I've incorporated it into my home system and it works great. No problems & no complaints.
I recommend this unit December 30, 2008
I purchased this unit to dub instructional video tapes to DVD. After reading the reviews I was skeptical the unit would work, but to my surprise it did. The video quality was about the same as the video tapes and the process was fairly simple.
Please note:
- Finalize the created DVDs, otherwise they will not play on other machines, also the automatic finalization was not as effective as the manual version.
- I used -R DVDs and they all worked with no errors (unlike my computer).
- It will not record encrypted tapes (those with Macrovision from the movie studios), so do not buy this unit if that is your main purpose.

This VCR/DVD combo does all that it is supposed to do. Unit arrived in good condition-and when I tested the various functions, they all seemed to work properly.
The only drawback I found was that when a DVD was recorded in a mode that would provide for extended length, the playback was not as clear and sharp as I would have liked it to be.
Other than that, I'm happy with the purchase and the seller.

I have been a Sony fan all my life but this product left a sour taste in my mouth. I have never seen such shoddy quality in a Sony product. The item arived broken with a VCR door in pieces. Amazon did offer a discount as compensation but for days I could not locate the product. While the Amazon site said it was delivered, I was pulling my hair trying to locate it.

The Best sony Product that I purchase at amazon.com. While reading the reviews I was very confused as to what I would get.How well it would work for me. But I was blowed away again. Being able to easily transfer my videos to dvds.Bravo Sony.
