Product Description A real good emergency radio, the KA888 has just arrived. It comes with all gadgets you need for emergency and sporting. It combines a sensitive compass, a thermometer, a siren, a clock and alarm, and the important combination is the flashlight you need in a dark night, even the dial needle is built in illumines material!

Complete piece of crap March 22, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Flashlight went out with two brief usages; now the whole thing has given up the ghost. Also: only received one SW station (even with "two" bands), and a handful of AM/FM. Also: solar recharger never worked--or maybe it would have, but the instructions didn't even include a how-to section on "solar".
If you feel like wasting your money on something that doesn't deliver much and is completely worn off after a brief period of time, buy a bottle of cheap booze instead of this garbage.
Great All-around Radio July 13, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this radio as part of my earthquake emergency kits, also I take it with as a portable radio when I am on a trip. I picked this radio primarily because it has solar power, which we have plenty here in Southern Cal. The radio works fairly well as far as reception and sound quality is concerned, and it seems to be very durable, my daughter had dropped it a few times while we were on a trip, the radio still works ok. The only thing I can think of improving is its flashlight, which is a regular small light bulb, not a LED.
Excellent FM Reception July 4, 2006 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This small radio is the best I have ever owned . I use it in my bathroom because of its small size .The reception is clear,I have a Wave Radio and the FM reception is the same . I would higly rcemmoned this radio .
A Very good emergency tool September 24, 2005 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I bought the Kaito KA888 radio a couple of weeks ago for shortwave and in case of an emergency. It is a real nice radio for emergencys with its features, the compass, time, temperture, and a perfect bright light during night or black outs. The radio is pretty good and smooth. The KA888 has AM,FM and shortwave (4bands) with quality sound on FM AM. The shortwave is ok and not the most clearest, but this specialliaces on being for emergencys.Which its very good for that.I kept the radio for about a week and returned it for the KA077 emergency radio because it covered more bands like VHF,TV,and weather bands. For me I liked this one better for my interest and needs.I would say that both radios are nice.It just depends what you need and want. The KA888and KA077 are good quality radios for a good price.
disappointing September 12, 2005 14 out of 16 found this review helpful
ordered the Kaito KA888 emergency radio for a present. It worked for exactly one day, then the AC adaptor died, making it impossible to use the radio on current or recharge it. Then the solar function stopped a few days later. I have been in contact with the company and am returning it for a replacement, as that first day was wonderful. I'll let you know if the replacement one works. very disappointing so far.
