Product Description Whether in homes, factories, offices, airports, or on the street, it's hard to imagine a place where Philips is absent. What Philips wants is to make your life and work easier - and more fun! And Philips continuously explores new ways to improve products and to offer innovative products to its consumers. Philips. "Let's Make Things Better".
Amazon.com Product Description Enjoy sparkling high-definition programming without forking over monthly digital cable or satellite fees with this Philips indoor HDTV/UHF antenna. The device is specially designed to receive HD broadcast signals from the major free networks in all primary reception areas. If the affiliate broadcasts in HD, the PHDTV1 will receive it, provided the user also owns an HD-compatible television. The highly directional antenna features a high front-to-back ratio that helps reject unwanted signal corruption, ensuring that your picture comes in clear and true. This feature is especially valuable in dense urban areas with crowded broadcast airwaves, where reflected signals can interfere with HDTV transmission. The antenna also offers a flat front gain slope that balances the reception throughout the UHF frequencies. The result is a consistently high-resolution picture regardless of which channel you choose. The PHDTV1--which also connects to PCs anywhere datacasting is available--has been endorsed by several HDTV-testing committees.

Philips PHDTV1 HDTV Antenna is only kind of meh... August 19, 2008 This product on my shelf above my TV has garnered many questions from my house guests as to what the sculpture is over the set. Upon my reply that it is the antenna, a common response is "Oh, I thought it was supposed to be an airplane." As far as product quality goes, I have to admit I receive quite a bit of signal interference. At different times of the day, I have to place the antenna in a different spot for good reception. I can't blame this entirely on the product, but I am not completely satisfied. I will most likely be in the market for another HD antenna in the future.
Great Philips PHDTV1 Silver Sensor UHF Antenna August 19, 2008 The Philips PHDTV1 Silver Sensor UHF antenna was delivered to my home last night (8/18/2008). I connect it to my Zenith DTT900 converter ( I bought it using a [...]$ coupon: https://www.dtv2009.gov/ )then to my old analog TV. I was so happy. It captured all digital TV stations from 2 to 62. The pictures were clear, crisp and 100% free of snow. I live at zip code 92656 and the broadcast stations are in Los Angeles, 47 miles away. The little antenna did a great job of pulling the signal out of the air.
Nothing Else Worked! August 18, 2008 My sister lives in an apartment on the 2nd floor of her building. She purchased a new digital tv but does not have cable. We needed to find her an antenna that would bring in the digital signals. We tried at least 6 others (she was getting tired of returning them!). I did some research online and decided to try this one. First I tried it at my own home in our family room. I was disappointed. It didn't do very well---could not pull the stations in like our RCA 525 does. I thought she would be returning this one also. BUT---when I hooked it up to her tv in her apartment--wow. All the channels came in clearly. I was very surprised. Once in awhile she has to move the antenna's position a little. Otherwise it is great for her. She is quite possibly closer to the signal strength of the stations that we are. We live in another town. One of the negative things about this antenna is how topheavy/lightweight it is. You have to be careful of that. She puts a weighted stuffed cat on it to help hold it down. My opinion on great "digital" antennas (no such thing by the way---you can try any antenna--don't let advertising fool you)is this: keep trying them until you find one that works in your location--there are no guarantees!
Good antenna when it worked... August 2, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I live in a brick building on the north side of Chicago. I got this antenna first so that I could watch Lost in HD.
On first impression the antenna is very cheaply made. It uses plastic and you can even see the paint bubbles.
To actually get a signal, I had to position the antenna in all types of directions which would take me anywhere from 1-15minutes to get the perfect direction. If moved the signal would drop anywhere from 1-3 seconds.
I know antennas are location/situation specific but this antenna did not work at all for me.
I was finally fed up with its poor performance so I bought the Terk HDTVa Indoor Amplified High-Definition Antenna for Off-Air HDTV Reception. I no longer have to change the direction of the antenna and I get better reception than ever.
When it worked, the antenna did work fairly well, however everything leading up to that was too unbearable to put up with.
With my new antenna I can know that I will be able to watch the Olympics in clear HD without worrying about the direction of my antenna.
Excellent for DTV reception! August 1, 2008 I love this product because of the ease of use. No long antenna's to rearrange only to get every other channel. Just put it together and hook-up and leave it to do all the work.
