GREAT EITHER WAY October 10, 2008 Whether you mount indoors or outside, this antenna is fantastic. I had another antenna indoors, that had rabbit ears, etc. It would pick up all channels, but you had to change the frequency and move it around all the time. I bought this antenna for another TV, but tried it on our main one first. I tried it outside and inside and got great results either way. I mounted it inside, and I get every available channel without the signal breaking up or having to mess around with it. You have to play with its direction and angle initially, but once set you're done. It's great.
Small size, great price September 2, 2008 After cancelling satellite subscription I wanted to see what's available over the air in San Diego area. On a piece of wire I got 1, sometimes 2 channels. Ordered this antenna due to its compact size (I live in a condo and could not install anything sticking outside). I put this antenna on a balcony on a shelf behind some plants and was able to receive all digital channels for San Diego area plus some from Los Angeles. The powered amplifier seems to be working quite well - when connected directly the signal on one of the channels (15) was about 61, after connecting the power it changed to 81, which is more than enough for digital TV.
The best one I've tried so far... August 22, 2008 This was my third digital antenna, and it seems to be the most consistent.
Still, the signals are not consistently pulled in, and quality seems to change from day-to-day without the antenna moving. I'm in a part of Dallas that should get all the channels with a strong signal, but I can not get ABC at all, and Fox is hit-or-miss, usually requiring a redirection compared to all of the other channels that come in well.
While this has been the best digital antenna I've gotten for my TV, I've finally given in to Time Warner cable, as their HD Cable/Digital Phone/Digital Internet deal is presently the same price I'm paying just for AT&T DSL and phone.
I know the broadcast signal has the highest quality/bandwidth, but I'm tired of flarning around with the antenna in the middle of a show, or watching a recorded show that drops out for the last 8 minutes (happened once on an episode of Law and Order).
I've gone over to the Dark Side...
Easy to set up. August 3, 2008 I bought this to replace my analogue-only indoor Terk antenna. Simply installing this on a pole on my apartment's balcony was all it took to receive every available digital channel in the Los Angeles area. Signal strength is consistently strong, and the picture clarity is amazing. Works great with the Insignia DTV converter box for older TVs.
Works good so far - Rowland Heights, CA August 1, 2008 I was looking for a indoor HDTV capable antenna after bought the new Sharp Aquos LC37D64U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV(The TV is great! The white glove delivery was superb). After days of reading through most of the reviews on different antennas I wanted to try "GE 24775 Quantum Indoor HDTV Antenna" but Amazon.com was out of stock. Even though my rabbit ear antenna was able to receive some HD signals but the signals were unstable so after a few days I couldn't wait any longer. I wanted to try Terk or Philips PHDTV1 antennas but I saw Lowes got this Philips Mant940 antenna and not too much more than what Amazon is selling for so I went ahead and bought it. Set up the antenna for indoor use is fairly easy and fast. I mounted on the top of the entertainment cabinet and set the TV to detect the signals. The result was very impressive. Where I live is about 20 miles from the towers according to www.antennaweb.org. I pick up not only the .1 HD channels I also pick up a good numbers of .2, .3, .4 channels. I am very happy with this antenna but still want to try out the GE antenna if it does come.
Second review: For some reason I have weak signals for certain stations at different time. Will try to set the antenna out door and see if the reception is better. I finally got the GE antenna and set it up at the office(2-3 miles closer to the towers) and got really good reception with almost no weak signal.
