5 out of 5 stars WiFi HiFi   December 18, 2008

This is a top of the line, great sounding, classy looking, well constructed wi-fi unit. I had to mull it over a while before ordering it, (a bit pricey I thought -- other units cost somewhat less) but because of the quality of other Logitech devices that I own, and the highly favorable review comments of others, I decided to go with it. Once again the saying "you get what you pay for" proved out true for me. I can recommend the Squeezebox without reservation.

5 out of 5 stars Extremely satisified   December 13, 2008
My classic was fun and easy to set up (OK, I'm a network engineer, but really, it was a cinch). There's still a learning curve -- it takes a while to get it customized your way, and it took me a few weeks to realize I could remotely control it from squeezenetwork.com .... but that's just an indication of the richness of the software (hey, its open source, what else would you expect? Of course, the forums and wiki and slimdevices.com and is quite good, too).

The sound quality with even 128 CBR MP3s -- made me re-think my prior experience with a Yamaha Cavit (USB-connected receiver). With B&W DM-602s and NAD 720BEE receiver, it really sounds much better than expected (the Burr Brown DAC must be excellent). Just use a decent pair of cables, not the disposable ones that come with the Squeezebox (and all other stereo gear).

But best of all, its expanding my musical horizons. I'm both a Rhapsody and Pandora subscriber, and I use them much more now because they actually sound good. Rhapsody is wonderful for their large catalog, but Pandora (which is FREE) steals the limelight for helping you discover great new music. Not to mention on-demand NPR podcasts, BBC, and some great stations from around the world.

Its my best tech purchase in quite some time.

5 out of 5 stars The way technology should be.   December 3, 2008
I love my squeezebox!!! This is probably the best example of how
a consumer device should be built. It does not skimp on quality, it
does what it is supposed to do well and doesn't try to do everything
(poorly). The user interface is simple and intuitive and setup was
a snap. Plug it in and it works, basically.

I use the squeezebox to play my music on my bedroom speakers. The
music itself is stored on my computer which happens to be in the
kitchen. It also plays internet radio stations so I can listen
to BBC or Bollywood radio.

If you are a techie/hacker type, the squeezebox is totally open
source and there are lots of add-ons written by users.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Elegant - Well Worth the Price   November 16, 2008
Only 15 minutes after opening the box, I was listening to my music collection! Wireless set up was simple, the player found my network immediately and was assigned an IP address by the router. The sound quality is better than I expected, it generally sounds better than the inexpensive CD player I had been using. I live in a townhouse community and all of my neighbors have wireless networks, so radio interference sometimes causes some Wifi network issues. I will investigate running an ethernet cable to the router. I highly recommend the Squeezebox!

4 out of 5 stars Great But???   November 11, 2008
The squeezebox is a great piece if you like listening to many different types of music via online radio and it integrates well with your laptop to play your mp3s wirlessly, however the directions on getting set up are a little vague and you need an IT degree to figure out how to save your favorite online stations. Overall, it a great item
