Not for use with satellite receivers January 6, 2009 I am pleased with the output of this amplifier. After we connected it, we pulled in two extra channels, FOX and ABC, now we have all the major networks in high def. BUT I wish I would have known that you can't use it with Satellite receivers, only Cable. It doesn't tell you why, but there's a big warning on the manual that it will damage the product. I can still run it straight through the TV, but I can't take advantage of running it through my Dish DVR and have the locals in the guide and use the recording features. Other than that, I would recommend this product if you need a boost to pull in more channels without getting a new antenna.
HDTV AMPLIFIER December 29, 2008
VERY HAPPY WITH THE FAST DELIVERY ( TWO DAYS ).THE AMPLIFIER SOLVED ALL OF MY LOW SIGNAL PROBLEMS.IF MY RECEPTION CONTINUES TO BE THIS GOOD AFTER THE DIGITAL CHANGEOVER,I WILL STAY WITH MY CABLE COMPANY.
Good solution with one caveat December 29, 2008 This amplifier/splitter replaced an large number of splitters installed about 25 years ago on our internal cable system. The installation was straightforward and I liked the coaxial connection between the plug transformer and the amplifier because it allowed me to tailor the length of the connection in my cabinet. Seven of the eight connections showed markedly improved reception. These were runs less than 75 feet. The eighth (and unfortunately the one I was most interested in) cable run was over 100 feet and the 4 dB amplification just didn't make the upper channels clear. If you have a particularly long run, a more powerful splitter/amplifier might work better.
It actually works! December 27, 2008 My OnQ system does not support a cable modem, so I replaced the OnQ amplifier/splitter module with this one and everything works fine - cable modem, cable HDTV receivers, and analog TVs connected directly to cable. I'm using six of the eight ports right now, and the unit just fits properly in the OnQ box. I capped off the two unused terminals (as you should do with any cable outlet).
I had tried a Radio Shack amp/splitter, but the cable modem would not work.
Excellent signal quality December 26, 2008 I was skeptical at first, but the signal distribution power level is a big improvement over my previous method. Fast delivery.
