A great alternative to dangling speaker wires, this attractive four-connector wallplate adds the finishing touch to your stereo installation. The concept is simple: rather than trailing your speaker wire across the floorboards or along the ceiling, you can instead run it through the wall, where it's completely hidden from view. The wires terminate at the wallplate, which is located near your speakers for the cleanest possible connection. This particular plate includes four connectors, so you can hook up two pairs of speakers without adding a second plate--a nice feature when connecting rear surround speakers, for instance, which are generally located far from the amplifier but close to each other. Other advantages stem from the gold-plated five-way binding post connections, which are both corrosion-free and offer plenty of hook-up flexibility, and the solderless connectors, which make wiring a snap. Installation, meanwhile, requires a drill and a wire stripper, but otherwise is relatively straightforward (be sure to consider any obstructions within the wall before making a hole, however).
