Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Play your iPod or other portable player through a car cassette deck or other cassette player / Sounds better than FM transmitters!

Amazon.com Product Description
Play your iPod, MP3 player, CD player, DVD player, or any other personal audio device through your car's cassette deck with this handy cassette adapter. The unit is easy to use: just plug the adapter into your audio device's 3.5 mm headphone jack, then insert the cassette into your car's tape deck. Once connected, the adapter will transmit all your favorite digital music through your car's stereo speakers. And don't worry about the audio sounding inferior, as the adapter delivers true hi-fi stereo sound. Compatible with all cassette players--including home or boombox units--the adapter is particularly useful for drivers with older car stereos.

2 out of 5 stars It works, but not perfectly   May 28, 2008
First of all, something like this should cost less than $7, $10 at the most.
Initially, the spindles makes squeaky noises, so I open the unit up to see how I can stop the squeaking. I soon found out that the spindle served no purpose at all for the particular head unit in my car (some tape decks require certain amount of tension in the spindle or it will stop). So I took out the spindle and the thing is as quiet as it could be. I also experimented with the flipping the adapter and switching the side A/B button on the head unit, and found that a certain combination works better than others.
The cable is long, much longer than what was needed, so I stuffed most of it inside the case to minimize clutter (this is a DIY modification which you have to open up the case).

2 out of 5 stars Throw a wet blanket over your speakers...   November 15, 2007
and this will give you an idea of the sound quality you will get from this particular product. While it delivers as far as getting your MP3 player to play through you cassette system, the very poor and muffled sound quality offsets this benefit. As far as cassette adapters go, I've gone through a few and the Sony brand has delivered far superior sound quality at the same price. While Maxell does make fine quality cassette tapes, I would avoid their cassette adapter.

4 out of 5 stars Good   May 13, 2007
I thought this product worked really great. The sound quality was really good.

1 out of 5 stars Awful quality of sound!!!   May 11, 2007
When I first saw all the reviews, i though this was the right cassete adapter for me... I ordered one to use on my car with my Ipod.. I received yesterday and when I tested on my car..... GEEEEEZEEE, the quality of sound is HORRIBLE!! songs sounded like my grandmother singing in the shower!
I went to walmart and got the "black panasonic cassete adapter" for 10 bucks... I works just fine!!

1 out of 5 stars DON"T BUY. Or You WIll Regret.   March 9, 2007

I do not leave feedback of any kind on amazon.com, but this time as I was listening to my car audio today, I was compelled to leave one for others. This product is probably the worst of any electrical equipments I bought for mp3 player/audio system. Its sound reproducing/transmission from mp3 player to car audio is of inferior quality. It does not balance well the low/high frequency sounds, resulting in dampened sound with absolutely no clarity. Mine worked ok for the first several hours I assume. I think it damaged the speaker, and it now sounds like it's going to rip apart. Someone else left review explaing this trouble, which I ignored, which was a mistake. Again, don't buy.
