Amazon.com Product Description
Do away with the clutter of CDs, cassettes, and jewel cases while on the road with the TransPod FM transmitter and charger, which plays your favorite iPod tunes through your car's stereo speakers. The TransPod powers itself via your car's cigarette lighter and broadcasts the iPod signal to any empty FM frequency on your dial--from 88.1 to 107.9 MHz. Should the reception at one frequency come in poorly, merely change frequencies by pressing the side button. And while you're busy listening to music, the TransPod is also charging your iPod at the same time, ensuring that it won't run out of juice in the middle of a long drive. The TransPod installs in any type of vehicle, and its adjustable mounting arm lets you position the iPod anywhere across the dash for easy access and control. The device also offers a line-out function so you can plug it directly into the car stereo via an optional cassette adapter or auxiliary plug. Compatible with the 3G, 4G, iPod mini, and iPod+HP with dock connector, the TransPod is the ultimate all-in-one car solution for music fans.

2 out of 5 stars Dont like it   March 30, 2008
This FM transmitter is just bad. I should have just gone to a car audio stor and let them set me up with an installed item that really woked and was not an FM transmitter. From what I have learned some more rural parts of the country may have better luck with this item but in LA there are few spots on the radio dial that are not taken and every couple of miles I am searching for a new station for my ipod. Dont buy it if you plan to use it in a large metropolitan area.

5 out of 5 stars Best solution to date...   January 25, 2008
I have been using this thing now for about two years and I have not had a single problem with it mechanically, and nothing has broken off of it, it still works the same as the day it arrived. Holds ipod securely and is easy to install and adjust. I like that the arm is long enough with the attachments to sit right next to the radio in my car so that I can see the display without having to go looking for it. I am also a big fan of the dock, I don't have to find wires to attach anything, just set it in its place and it docks up with no problem, and it doesn't have to sit in a cup holder or other inconvenient place. It doesn't hinder the click wheel, and is fairly steady though I have had the thing move about when going around corners and such, and you have to check and make sure that all of the connectors are tightened regularly and are under a little tension or have a little niche to but up against. A nice clear sound with no buzzing or crackling where I live, and if you are traveling all you have to do is hit the button on the side of the transpod to get a different station when you need an empty one to broadcast on, so you don't have to go hunting for one yourself. A very useful little thing, my husband wishes they made one like this for the zen. It may have a few minor problems but it is the best I have found yet.

5 out of 5 stars Finally an FM transmitter that works well!   December 6, 2007

Once again, I got an amazing deal on this unit right here on Amazon. I got it for for my girlfriend who had practically given up on any FM transmitter for her her iPod because none of them worked well for her. She tried them all; Belkin, Griffin, and iRiver. When I bought this unit back in early 2006, it was the bulkiest out of the available transmitters available and I guess DLO priced it based on it's design rather than it's effective functionality. Since it's release, the price has tripled. However, if I had to buy it today, I would because I'd rather pay more for something that is going to work than to buy 3 others, although considerably cheaper, that don't. It also charges your iPod too. This unit is a solid proven performer and I highly recommend it.

2 out of 5 stars Not a good fit!!!   November 4, 2007

I got this as a gift. Unfortunately I could not use it. As it seems, the way the thing is designed, and the way my truck is designed I couldn't find a way to make it fit. Where my outlet plug in my truck is right behind my gear shifter. So there was no way the i Pod was going to fit in the holder with out getting hit by the gear shifter. If you tried to use the arm extension they give you the thing bounces around or spins around because the i Pod is too heavy. I have the larger I Pod. It's the video one. So, I would check to see where your outlet is before buying. I ended up getting the Griffin 9501-TRIPCBL iTrip Auto FM Transmitter and Auto Charger. Very happy with it. Sounds great and was easy to use. Good luck and Happy trails....

2 out of 5 stars Does everyone SERIOUSLY get "great signal" with the Transpod? Not I...   August 29, 2007
I have had horrible issues with this thing for five months now. No matter where I go, or if I find an "empty" radio station to tune this to, the signal ALWAYS has static. The sound quality is awful. If people drive by me with another FM transmitter, my signal instantly changes to their music until they are about 500 feet away. I have contacted customer service, and was told that "it's probably due to being in a metropolitan area." Sorry, but I used to use a cheap, $20 transmitter that only could tune to four possible stations, and that could easily give me crystal clear reception on most stations - better than the expensive Transpod has ever given me. The reason I switched was because of the Transpod's charging and convenience factor (and probably the reason I haven't returned it yet). Does everyone truly have great signal with this? Not me. Be very weary of this product. If anyone has any tips for me to make it work, let me know...
