Fantastic Product but 249$ is Highway Robbery November 14, 2008 This is a great little player (although the IPod functionality works only for a limited set of IPods; mine is the 30G video Ipod and works great). It has good sound and video, can be played through a regular tv with the supplied A/V cord, and the remote stores in a specially-sized "hole" in the right-hand side (this is where you would place your Ipod to play it). I listen to it at night to help me sleep. It does run a little hot sometimes, and the screen is so bright that even with the lid closed (it plays with the lid closed!) a little light "leaks" out. The screen swivels and can be watched facing UP a la tablet-PC.
However, do not pay 249$ for it. Places which sometimes have them in stock are Walmart, Radio Shack, and JandR.com, to name a few. This listed for around 150$ new.
Colors are washed out September 27, 2008 The color on mine was washed out. Brightess control does not help. Video does not work with fourth gen Nano.
Great DVD player September 15, 2008 We bought this dvd player based on previous consumer reviews and love it. The volume is great. We've had no problem with IPod compatibility. It is durable and simple to use. Great buy!
Great for the price! Does not play SDHC September 12, 2008 We bought this viewer primarily because we wanted something to watch whilst on the elliptical trainer. We chose this one because it is able to play Divx files stored on SD cards in addition to DVDs. It would have been more convenient if it had a USB port, but it works quite well from the SD card. The screen is clear and bright, and the DVD player functions perfectly without skipping even when strapped to our rocky elliptical trainer.
If you do intend to play digital files using the SD slot, do note that it will NOT play SDHC (high capacity) cards. We were able to find a couple of 4gb non-HC cards, but they are somewhat rare. It's unfortunate, because all of the newer, larger cards will be SDHC, so stock up while you can.
We purchased this player for $129.
In summary... Pros: Plays Divx files SD slot Good volume nice screen
Cons: No USB port Does not accept SDHC iPod Touch does not fit in iPod port
