Great deal September 4, 2008 I dont know what some of the other reviewers are having problems with..? Maybe they got a lemon because mine works PERFECT and has awesome features. It doesnt feel cheap and looks really sleek. I want to buy another for a family member! I think this is a great buy and I recommend this product!
Poor video quality but overall a good value August 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have an iPod classic with 80 GB. I carry my music and a lot of movies with me to watch during my commute on a busy subway system. I wanted a bigger screen to watch my iPod movies. This thing has adapters for virtually all formats. I am going to throw out the others but am keeping the iPod classic and touch/iPhone ones. The built in speakers are not very good quality. The headphones produce good iPod sound pass through.
I am a bit disappointed at the SD card format support. The SD card can only have MP3 sound files or JPEG pictures. This thing also supports DivX. I am not sure how this works. I am not interested either. MPG4 movie does not play. I was planning to use this card feature some times.
The DVD is OK type. The DVD door is extremely flimsy. Mine is already showing signs of wear after one week! The battery drains a little faster when running the DVD drive to watch movies. I am planning to take my movies mostly on the iPod.
Flimsy design, poor video image quality, and no battery gauge that is why 3 stars. I am otherwise very happy and would recommend this product.
Just what we needed August 20, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Great picture and sound. Easy to set up and control. A star in the making!
Took a really good product and made it worse August 9, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
the only reason this product exists is because apple changed the firmware so the Philips DCP850 no longer works with any of the video ipods. Unfortunately the DCP850 was far, FAR superior in virtually all aspects. The good thing about the new version is it's currently the only portable system that works with video ipods. after that, crickets.
The bad: * the cluncky design. this sucker is heavy - twice as heavy as the previous model. * As other reviewers have noted, it feels cheap. The docking station doesn't slide out smoothly (you actually usually have to give it a hand assist to get it all the way out so you can insert your ipod). * the pop out stand is about an inch too short so you either have to be positioned well above it (looking down on the screen) or you have to use a book or something to prop it up on a table for straight-on viewing. * The sound quality is abysmal. seriously. * And one of the worst design flaws: although this is a travel dvd, there is zero protection for the screen. the way you see it in the image is how it travels. They give you a very think "sleeve" to insert it in...but it provides a fraction of the protection (plus it's a plain pain to get on) that the previous "flip" model did.
Conceptually, this new one msay have looked good on paper. It was very poorly executed. But, if you want a portable to view ipod videos, right now you really have no other choice.
Better than spending all your $$ on i-anything July 29, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought a classic 80GB Ipod and wanted to use it to its full potential. There are soo many Iproducts out there and besides how much music/videos you buy, you could spend thousands of dollars to enhance one device. I was in and out of the hospital for awhile and wanted to not only watch my DVD's, but everything in my Ipod. Well I did the research and this is one of the only ones that supported my type. I have had it in ER's, my hospital room and I love it. I have never had any problem with it and eventhough I bought mine at a store, it is white and pretty damn cool. I highly recomend this to everyone. Even my mom takes it with her on trips. Hope this helps and one last cool thing is when I can afford an Iphone, it has every adaptor for every Ipod you can buy, which is a pretty cool deal. To the dude who says that the sound sucks, you are a liar!! It has Dolby Digital. Check what audio channel you are on numnuts.
