Amazon.com Product Description Seven inches: that's the diagonal width of the DRC612N's high-contrast, 16:9 aspect-ratio LCD viewing area. It may not seem like much, but the paperback-sized screen is shaped to fit the widescreen dimensions of your favorite films, and it lets you enjoy crisp, vivid images almost anywhere you go. This portable DVD player also offers compatibility with just about every optical disc format, from DVD-Video, DVD+R/RW, and DVD-R/RW to MP3 CD (including mp3-PRO files), WMA CD, and JPEG image CD. Enjoy movies and music through the player's built-in stereo speakers, or hook up a pair of optional headphones for private listening. The DRC612N also includes a DC car adapter for battery-free road listening and/or backseat video entertainment. When you're at home, you can route Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals through the player's optical digital-audio output for direct connection to a surround-decoding audio/video receiver (digital-audio interconnect not included). Composite- and S-video outputs simplify hookup with your home TV. Playback features include MultiSpeed smooth scan and slow motion in forward and reverse, perfect still pictures, forward and reverse frame-by-frame advance and skip, aspect ratio selector (4:3, 16:9 and letterbox), screen fit, disc/track/program repeat on CD and mp3, and disc/title chapter/A-B repeat on DVD. You also get program play, random play, IntroScan, parental lock, and picture zoom. The DRC612N comes with an AC adapter and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that provides up to three hours of playback (power consumption depends on the operations of the player, such as screen brightness, volume level, etc). Other supplied accessories include an AC power adapter, a user's manual, and a credit-card-sized remote control. What's in the Box DVD player, remote control, remote battery, unit battery, AC power adapter, DC vehicle power adapter, a stereo analog/composite-video interconnect, an S-video interconnect, and a user's manual.

Wonderful player, worth every cent! January 21, 2007 I bought one of these about a year ago, and it is by far the best Portable DVD Player I've ever used or seen. The battery life is above and beyond the projected lifespan, and in a stress test today it lasted over 4 hours on battery power alone. The stability that it offers is impressive, I'm very happy using it on the train where it doesn't bounce around but manages to stay where I put it. The remote functions are quick and easy to use, though you have to be careful because it will give confusing signals to some TVs. Still, the overall quality offered by this product is above and beyond anything I'd expected from it. I look forward to giving RCA the business!
DO NOT BUY THIS!!! HORRIBLE I HATE IT!!!! POS! November 7, 2006 My husband bought me this player so I could have something to do while I rode the train for 4 hours to go visit my children. The first thing that happen was after only using it one time it stopped working. It would constantly stop in the middle of a movie or wouldn't play at all. If it was cold forget trying to use it. I would constantly have to fiddle with it to get it to work. Then after only having it for 4 months I decided to try and use it again and as I opened it up I heard a cracking nose and a screw fell out from the bottom of the screen where it meets the hinges. I wrote to RCA numerous times and was NEVER replied to. I tried to call them and was NEVER successful in finding a human that could help me. I HATE this POS and now it's completely broken! the whole screen broke apart at the hinges. I was never once rough on it and I'm a 35 yr old female adult, not a child being to hard on it. I was always careful with it. I will NEVER buy anything from RCA ever again. Stay away from this company and this player!!!!!
Looking for a replacement June 1, 2005 Poor replay---skips---freezes and emmits noises from inside as if confused. If I could reach the seller, I`d ask for an upgrade since I want to be able to play all types of discs as described on the box. I have a large number of archived DVD's on DVD+/-R and RW discs which this thing just freezes up on. One of the other reviewers has given me a source for a substitute....chuckonechuck@bellsouth.net
I love mine April 26, 2005 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this about 8 months ago and I love it. It has super picture quality and the sound is good too. When listening with headphones Im able to adjust the sound, but I wish it would go just a little bit higher. All the DVDs Ive played have played flawlessly. A nice size, too. It is a great unit for the price we paid and Im very happy with it.
Plays store bought dvds fine but not anything burned September 28, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a nice dvd player as far as the picture and sound goes. It will play store bought dvds fine but anything that was burned on a dvd recorder whether it was a dvd-r or dvd+r, it would freeze and skip and sometimes get confused. This upset me as the box says it will play DVD-r/rw and DVD+r/rw but I never had any luck. I returned this after a week of checking out what dvds would play on it and bought a Panasonic 7 inch DVD-LS50 model that will play anything that I have burned on a dvd recorder as that is what I want to watch on it as well as the store bought dvds.
