Very nice cabinet November 24, 2008 Great directions. I put it together by myself (I'm a 51 year old woman) in 1 hr 15 minutes. I am grateful to the other reviewers telling me to put something under the cabinet to cushion it when I turned it over to put the back on.
The only thing I could have asked for different was a darker color as it would have matched my other furniture better. However, it is a very nice cabinet and holds a LOT of DVD's and CD's.
Oskar Multimedia Wood Storage Cabinet by Atlantic November 19, 2008 I had ordered a smaller storage cabinet for all my DVD movies from Amazon a few months ago, but quickly out grew its capacity. I found a larger unit made by Atlantic and ordered it asking for the two day shipping. About a week passed when I received a call from the shipper asking for a convenient time & date for me to accept delivery. This unit was delivered on the day and the time specified. The unit was quite heavy, but it was brought into my house and placed in my living room by the shipping people. The condition of this unit, which was double boxed, was excellent. The next day I began to assemble this unit. The instructions were very easy to understand and, after about an hour and a half, put it together by myself. I read all the reviews of customers who purchased this storage cabinet with some customers indicating problems with nailing the board backing to this unit and causing the center section to split. It does lay unevenly on the floor because of the base being larger than the rest of the shelving, but you are NOT using spikes nor a sledge hammer to "tack" this backing, which is pre-drilled, to the unit. Small nails are provided and work quite well. After fully assembling this unit I found it to be well worth the money spent and will hold all my DVD movies and then some. Very highly recommended....
Excellent purchase August 8, 2008 This is a great product. I was very pleased with the purchase. It suited my needs just right. It takes up less room with more storage than the last shelf I had in the same place.

Worth every penny! July 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just bought this cabinet here in Amazon Prime and it only took me two hours to assemble all by myself. It is easy to assemble as it comes with an easy to follow instruction sheet. The cabinet does satisfy my DVD/HDDVD/BD needs. I just need another one so I can consolidate my racks in to two of these cabinets. It is definitely a space saver. I do have almost a thousand DVD/HDDVD/BDs (and growing) and this cabinet does the job. I cannot wait for my second one to arrive. I highly recommend this item for those of you who have a huge collection of DVDs or CDs.
UPDATE (08/09/08):
Per my previous review of this item, I have bought and assembled a second one of this cabinet two days ago and now all my 900+ (and still groing) DVD/HDDVD/BD collection still has a 2-1/2 shelves to fill. Soon I'll be needing a third one to combo my CDs and future HD/DVD media collection. This consolidates two Atlantic Penguins, two Atlantic Elfs and two Atlantic slim DVD towers. This cabinet, as I have already mentioned, is worth every penny. A must for hardcore movie collectors.
Now I just have to disassemble the Penguins, Elfs and slim towers to put away in storage, just in case I ever need those again. You cannot go wrong with Atlantic products. I've been using them for 10 years and counting and never had any issues with them. So far, this Oskar has been a true space-saver for me.
If I hadn't bought all those CD's I'd be able to afford real furniture. July 26, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Yes, that's the ironic thought that popped into my head as I finished building this massive monolithic altar to twenty years of misallocated cash. Here I am putting together furniture that could just have well been presto logs that I paid a little over a hundred dollars for in order to hold a collection of 1080 CD's which if bought new at $12.00 each would be almost $13,000 or enough to fill the entire room where this thing now resides with fine furniture made of real wood, with a real finish of real varnish, etc.
Anyway, it took my wife and I about two hours to put this CD shelf together. It wasn't difficult; there are just a lot of shelves and things that need to be put together with a piece of furniture this size. (I really would like to see someone put this together in fifteen minutes!)
There are a couple of "gotchas" that the instructions don't tell you about. First, the eight screws that go in from the bottom don't screw in flush with the wood; they stick out. Bad news if you're not putting this on top of a carpet. I had to improvise a bit (with a large drill bit, as a matter of fact) and take off just a bit of the sawdust, er, wood at each screwhole so that bottom screws would screw in all the way and the bottom would be flat.
Second, there's the nailing on of the back piece where you flip the unit over with it not laying flat on the floor and start pounding nails. As at least one other reviewer has pointed out, this is a great way to break the middle shelf. Thankfully I saw this coming and put some books under the middle shelves befor I nailed on the back pieces.
And now that it's completed I can't wait to gather up all the CDs from where they're squirreled away and put them on this storage cabinet. I'll have them all in one place, and they'll cover up all the obvious clues that this is a really cheap piece of furniture.
Well, I got what I paid for, and for sheer clutterbusting alone it's a pretty good deal. So far so good.
