Disk finder Lifesaver November 10, 2008 I have 5 of these units stacked. They work well. Needless to say, disk management without them would be a nightmare.
Good Product May 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using 2 Ziotek media carousels with the movie collectorz software for about one and a half years. The products work well with each other. I have over 180 movies, and over 150 disks in the 2 carousels. The movie collector keeps track of them all. It took about 2 hours to put in my original ~100 movies using the bar codes on the back of the disks. I have upgraded my software numerous times with no problems. I have even changed computers and exported all of my movies to the new computer with no real problem other than during the transfer, it lost all of the cover art. It took the program about 30 minutes to find them all on the internet and import them again. Whenever I buy a new movie, I just type in the UPC code on the back, edit the movie to tell the program to find the first available location in the carousel, and insert the disk. From then on, I just tell the program to eject the movie that I want to watch, grab the disk, and I am ready to go.
I did note that using my old XP system, that only one of my USB ports would recognize the carousels. All of the other USB ports could not identify it. I think it needs a primary port that is not on a USB hub (as most ports on a computer are). I also occasionally had to unplug and plug back in the carousel, as the computer lost touch with them. These are the reasons for the 4 star rating.
Works as advertised-- no problems with XP here March 22, 2008 I guess I'm a lucky user as mine worked fine and as advertised. I did purchase a better application-- which had its own "drivers"-- to work with it. This device is _not_ plug and play; there is no device detection with it. But it works as advertised; no installation issues or anything. The app that I bought (I am not affiliated with this company at all) can be found at [...]
I'd give good ratings if it worked consistently November 26, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Software is very basic and not nearly flexible enough.
1st device I had failed physically after about 1 month. 2nd device (replacement for 1st, which I had tested before being sent to me) works physically, but Windows does not detect it - so I can't access database.
CD Carousel Plus? February 28, 2007 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The CD carousel plus would truly be a "+" if it were able to read the disks.
