Amazon.com Product Description Panasonic's SL-S360 is a perfect all-around portable CD player, offering both a durable, heat-resistant, polycarbonate body and 40-second Anti-Shock Memory II, which guards against interruptions in playback due to jarring or active use. The 1-push, full-open top cover and pop-up disc-eject system simplify disc access and exchange, while Panasonic's own MASH 1-bit digital-to-analog conversion system ensures optimal sound quality. Need more bass? Engage the player's S-XBS circuit for slamming low end. Playback abilities include 24-track random-access programming; random play; repeat and resume (which picks up where the unit left off when last stopped); and skip/search. An auxiliary analog audio output lets you hook the player up with a stereo system using an optional stereo Y adapter (.125-inch minijack to left/right RCA), and a hold switch prevents accidental starting, stopping, or track skipping during use or transport. The player offers up to 22 hours of continuous playback with anti-skip protection off and 25 hours with anti-skip protection on using 2 AA batteries (not included). A low-battery indicator warns you when a change is due. The unit can operate on standard or rechargeable batteries and can even recharge certain batteries by itself--but be aware that the unit's battery-charging feature works only with Panasonic's P-3GAVA/2B or SH-CDB8D rechargeable batteries (no batteries included). If you wish to use the player with a vehicle power adapter, use only model SH-CDC9. What's in the Box CD player, a user's manual, over-ear headphones, and an AC power adapter.
Product Description The SL-S360 includes an AC adaptor and features a 40-second ASM II memory buffer. The extra capacity will help ensure there's no CD skipping even on pothole-riddled streets or during off-road driving. This model can perform for up to 25 hours on alkalines. The player offers ASM II, which spins discs faster than normal speed, while a digital memory buffer stores the extra audio data generated. When a vertical shock (along the axis of the disc) causes a tracking error, the system plays back music from memory (up to 40 seconds) until correct tracking resumes. In addition, ASM II's sophisticated chip set corrects horizontal shocks (those that occur in the plane of disc rotation), which cause the disc to momentarily spin faster or slower. This frees up the full capacity of the digital memory buffer to deal with tracking errors caused by vertical shocks. Other features include heat resistant polycarbonate body, pop-up disc eject system and one-push full open top cover.

Fantastic, Rugid CD Player September 6, 2004 I've had mine for over 5 years now (scary huh). I got it in Aug 1999 and it is still working - no problems. This player will go with you everywhere and work great. It can also take a beating - I've dropped it ALOT and it still works perfectly. A couple months ago I thought it was finally failing, but it turned out that the headphones I was using were the product that was failing. All the features work great. I'm considering upgrading now only because I would like a player capable of playing mp3 data cds, which were before this one's time.
This CD Player has made me a firm believer in Panasonic quality - now when I buy anything electronic I first check what panasonic has...although their phones don't seem to work all that well.
I can say without a doubt that my next cd player will be a panasonic.
An update to this: The player has finally died (2006).
Simple and Functional September 12, 2003 I'd just like to say that my unit just gave in after four great years of use. The SL-S360 is so simple that you can just take it out of the box and KNOW it, without having to read the instructions. The sound quality was near perfect, and the Anti-shock system was amazing. You can drop this thing on the floor and it'll just keep going. If you're looking for a CD player that's reliable without all the unecessary bells and whistles, make this the one.
Sturdy and Sweet August 31, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a fantastic CD Player. After two years of violent abuse, it finally broke. My player has gone through a lot, and still occasionally works. I've dropped it on rocks, thrown it around, and it eventually stopped operating when I spilled water inside. My only complaint is that if I don't use the anti-shock protection, it skips like a MOTHER. Aside from that, it's worked beautifully and provides amazing battery life. It was definitely worth my money and it served me well.
Coffee, D & D and the Fallen CD. November 24, 1999 55 out of 57 found this review helpful
Another work day, Dunkin Donuts Java, a toasted Coconut Donut, and John Coltrane on the Portable CD. Walking out of the local D&D I felt a tap on my shoulder. Startled I quickly turned around. A pretty lady was pointing toward the ground. To my amazement and embarrasement the CD player was trailing behind me. The player never skipped a beat. I was totally unaware that the player had fallen out of my CD case. The player is superb. I use it in the car, on the train, while jogging. It has not skipped yet. If you want a reliable, great sounding CD player this is the one.
For the money, this is an excellent player; NO SKIPPING! November 16, 1999 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
This player has the best of all worlds. Unbelieveable battery life (at least 20 hours WITH anti-skip turned on), an absolutely extra-terrestrial anti-skip feature with an amazing 40 sec. memory, plus all the usual programming modes. The quality of the headphones may be less than the best. This is the smallest and slimmest personal cd player I've ever had. You won't know it is in your pocket. PANASONIC DOES IT AGAIN!
