Amazon.com Product Description Now you have the option of listening to your portable CD player without the inconvenience of headphones or clumsy portable speakers. The Panasonic SLPH270 features two built-in stereo speakers so you can enjoy listening wherever you are. Its assortment of features include 24-track random-access programming, repeat of one or all tracks, skip and search, and memory and recall keys as well as resume play and random play. The Panasonic Anti-Shock Memory 3.0 system stores 40 seconds of data in its memory to fill in gaps caused by bumps or vibrations. When the CD player is bumped, causing a tracking error, the system plays back music from memory until tracking resumes. It uses a digital servo in conjunction with a lighter and faster spindle motor that offers fast retracking speed. It also features a heat-resistant polycarbonate body for extra protection. A "hold" switch prevents you from unintentionally hitting "stop" while the CD is playing or from changing the programming. In addition, you can save your batteries from drain with the power-saving auto power-off function. This model includes adjustable stereo headphones and an AC adapter.

Great product but doesn't have mp3 formats March 15, 2004 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great product, even compared to today's cd players. The unit is built to last and feels strong compared to today's cheap products that you find at the stores for the same price range. It plays cd-r very well and handles scratches pretty good too. Don't let it's 40 second anti skip make you think that this is a weak product. It has this motion swing aid which works marvelously. What this means is that when you hold it on your hand and swing it while running or walking, it doesn't skip. That and add the 40 seconds anti skip to it and it would be very hard to here a single skip. It isn't ideal for running ofcourse but it will give you a good lap before it shows its weakness. The speaker on it isn't great, just a twiter but it helps you let your buddies preview a small portion of a song. It has a hold button that will lock every button on the unit but not the volume. I've had this unit for about 3 years and it still works pretty good with a couple of dents. This unit isn't good for a steam room, sauna, or any place that has humidity in it. This i know for a fact. Placing it in a hot car doesn't harm it cause i've done it several times. The bad point is that it has no MP3 support and so most people pass this unit for the newer players.
It does its job great... just a few things I would fix.. March 4, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It's great! The volume is actually better than I expected, and it isnt all that bulky. I find it very satisfying, and good for ocasions when music for you or for everyone are just what the doctor ordered. (like waiting in line for then hours, on long car trips when they stole the radio, or just play it out loud during lunch for you and your friends at school) The only very minor things I notice are; -it doestn let you know how much battery you have left until youve almost run out. -I never did quite get the "hang on the wall" screww in thing, so I put a strap there to hang it off my wrist instead. - I really didnt like the earphones it included so I bought new ones.
FUN CD PLAYER January 23, 2004 Now, I can listen to my CDs anywhere I want without having to use earphones! Obviously, I can't compare the sound to my stereo system or a Bose. But why would I? The speakers are small. What else should I expect? The price is high compared to other compact CD players or big boom boxes (I think because this model is made in Japan). So, basically, I'm paying for convenience. Ok, that's it...
Built-in Speakers Real Plus December 2, 2003 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this player over a year ago to help with overnight stays when I travel because I love to listen to all kinds of music. I was hoping that the built-in speakers would free me from being chained to the player when listening in my motel or hotel room. The speakers performed beyond my expectations and I am buying a second player this year for a Christmas present. NOTE: The player is sensitive enough to jostling that I would not recommend it to anyone who is going to use it while running (and can't give it 5 stars) but it has performed well in every other way.
Skip City March 15, 2003 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this player because of the built-in speakers (which is a very nice feature). The sound quality is much better than I expected; no complaints there. But this thing skips constantly, even when it's sitting still on a tabletop! It is so completely annoying that I'm now looking for a new player.
