Amazon.com Product Description The ideal tool for listening to news, advice, entertainment, and sports, the second-generation CCRadio Plus portable radio offers unsurpassed AM radio reception, topnotch FM reception, and access to the latest information from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather service. The CCRadio has long been the prime choice for enthusiastic AM listeners, as its speaker is specially tuned to the human voice, while its signal meter and fine-tuning knob ensure that reception is always at its best regardless of the distance. The result is AM clarity that far exceeds most radios, which typically sound distant and tinny. The FM reception is also solid, as is the NOAA service, which provides weather updates 24 hours a day. The weather radio also works as an "all hazards" information radio, letting you track significant weather events in your area, while the built-in weather alert sounds an alarm when weather emergencies are nearby. Adding to the fun is a TV audio band, which receives the soundtrack for VHF channels 2 through 13. The TV band lets you keep abreast of your favorite soap opera, catch the local news, or listen to the audio footage of a televised baseball game--a nice option if the game isn't available on local radio. Additional features include five memory preset buttons with five memories per band (for a total of 20), an auxiliary input for connecting portable audio devices to the speaker, adjustable bass and treble controls, a display light, auto scan, and a stereo headphone jack. The radio even comes with a built-in clock with alarm and sleep timer modes, so you can locate the radio on your night stand or employ its alarm functions while traveling on the road. The CCRadio Plus, which offers a variety of power options--including traditional alkaline or rechargeable ni-cad D-cell batteries, an optional solar panel, and a built-in 6-volt DC input jack--measures 11 by 6.5 by 4 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor. What's in the Box CCRadio Plus, AC power cord, user's manual.
Product Description The original CCRadio has been the prime choice for ardent AM-band radio listeners. Now in its second generation, the CCRadio plus continues to offer listeners unparalleled AM reception with audio fine-tuned to reproduce the human voice. The CCRadio plus also has good FM reception, which you can listen to in stereo through the headphone jack (headphones not included). The built-in NOAA weather radio gives you updates 24 hours a day. The radio also includes a special Weather Alert that sounds an alarm to notify you of weather emergency updates. The radio is simple to use and has built-in clock, alarm, and sleep timer modes. Built-in 6V DC input jack and charging circuit allows you to run this radio via the optional solar panel while charging the optional NiCad batteries Color - Mica Black

Maybe I will get another one... September 26, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I find the AM reception outstanding, which is what I got it for. It stays on my favorite station all the time. After about five years the speaker went out. They offered to fix for $60.00. Instead I took a pair of computer speakers and plugged it into the phone jack. Works great! My LCD is still visible. I'm thinking about getting another radio for another location in my house, but....I want a discount price.
CCrane Radio is problematic. August 30, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
C Crane CCRadio Plus Multiband Portable AM/FM/Weather/TV Band Radio, Black
My CCrane was purchased in 2000 and recently returned from its third retrip from Ca. The first when I bought it and the second for the LCD repair. Finally this week the high maintenance radio with noisy preselects returned from a speaker problem repair and I find the battery box (I hope this is the problem) is not working. I have not recommended this radio for many years and this year have bought a standby radio that is so far good. It is the Sangean PR-D5. Too bad I paid so much for the CCrane and two repairs. If I return it one more time it will be a $400 radio!
Good AM reception. July 23, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I found this radio to give good AM reception, and AM is really all that I listen to. I use the clock radio feature as a wake-up alarm, and it has functioned flawlessly for over 2 years. I knocked the radio off the table a couple of times, one time breaking the antenna. CCrane has a kit to repair the antenna, for a fairly low price, so I was able to replace the antenna. Other than the antenna breaking, the radio withstood the falls without damage, so it seems to be pretty robust.
don't believe all the advertising-hype ... July 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned three CCRadios, the original CCRadio, and two replacement CCRadio+ models ... don't fall for the advertising promos, these are very poor quality radios, in a decent cabinet ... overall physical 'build' is quite good, they are heavy, and solid, I like this aspect of them ... the speaker is also OK, and battery life is excellent ... that's where the positives cease, altogether ... the LCD numerical panels 'go black' after a short time, and the reception quality is 'God-awful' ... it has the worst filtering and adjacent-channel rejection of any radio I've ever owned, even some of the cheap ones ... being extra-sensitive, and poorly-filtered, you can just imagine the noise, and overlap ... I listen to a fairly powerful AM station in the nearby city (10 miles away), and an AM station from Ecuador totally drowns out my local station, no excuse for that ... noise from nearby computers, and other electronics, also make their presence loudly known ... IF this radio cost $50, it would be OK (just OK) ... but, it's not worth anything like their present pricing ... C.Crane isn't on my 'favorites' list' for Customer service, either ...
Mine Still Working Great June 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have to admitt I get a little nervous when I see all the negative ratings for this radio. However, I have had mine for a year now, and everything still works, which is why I give it four stars! Had I consulted Amazon first I probably would not have bought this model, but so far so good. The LCD and the buttons still work fine. Due to the ratings here I would advise people to consider the GE Superadio if they can tolerate analog tuning. I have an old one and the reception is almost as good as the CCRadio Plus. Also another really excellent radio that I have with digital tuning is the Sony Model No. ICF-M410V. Now that radio is a real gem, and much cheaper than the CCRadio Plus!
In conclusion, my CCRadio Plus still works, it has excellent reception, and I like the features, so I must give it four stars, but the ratings here make me nervous about its longevity.
