1 out of 5 stars Damaged Radio   February 3, 2008
I have received this radio damaged. It is very likely it was damaged in shipment. I suggest that any seller of this or any other fragile device give careful consideration to the packaging. The factory packaging is not suffficient to protect the radio in case of the usual handling by the carrier. I say that because I communicated with the seller because he limited the packaging to that of the "as received packaging from the factory". He impressed me as a very conscientious and sincere person. He tried to replace the radio but was unable to duplicate the same model so he refunded my purchase price.

3 out of 5 stars Sound good, range not good   January 28, 2008
The radio is beautiful and well made. Sound quality is good for stations that are received well by the radio. The biggest problem is that reception of some FM stations that are received well by other receivers in the house are not received well by this radio. It is a well made, attractive product, but not a great performer.

5 out of 5 stars Radio/CD review   January 1, 2008
For service, company was right on time. I find it very difficult to write a product review after 1 week in use.

4 out of 5 stars here is a review after owning this product several years...   June 8, 2007

One thing I've noticed about product reviews is that most are written immediately after the item is purchased. That tells people how something works out of the box, but doesn't really speak to longevity.

I have owned this retro CD player at least three years now (maybe four) so I have a little different perspective. Out of the box I would have rated this a 5 out of 5. It looks wonderful and is very heavily made; not at all a cheap veneer-over-plastic affair. I was astounded by the beautiful sound quality -- much better than I would have expected from a radio that appears largely ornamental.

So why only four stars, three years out? Well, there seems to be a problem with the push-button controls, and I'm willing to bet I am not the only consumer experiencing it. Another review mentioned that the programming features are confusing, and it is easy to push the wrong button when all you want to do is play a song.

Unfortunately that aspect only gets worse with age. I don't know if the push-button controls just wear out after awhile, or if there is dust inside my player that I can't get to easily. What has happened is that the 'play' button (arguably your most important control) only works when it feels like it now. It has never failed to play a CD for me...eventually...but you have to be real patient with it as it ages. Lately, I'll need to tap the play button 4, 5...as many as 6 times before it activites. Striking it harder seems to help it make contact, but it is a frustrating process.

Otherwise a 5/5 product. I can tell you that three or four years out, once I coax it into play mode, it sounds as great as it did fresh out of the box. And still looks soooo cool!

4 out of 5 stars Retro CD/Radio   April 4, 2007
Uh, Cool product...while remodeling the family room; wanted something that fit the retro look and all I could find is the ordinary boom boxes that resembled something out of a science fiction movie and happened to locate this one that works fine and fits the room perfectly!
