 Use it for running and not much else April 11, 2008
When this mp3 player first came out I thought it would be really cool. I've had other iRiver models and used them until they broke (cycling). The t10 plays fine but the design turned out to be poor for me. Didn't discover that until after using it a few times. I felt navigation was awkward and design could have been better. Plus side was that battery life has been good and the model I originally purchased still performs well. It's now been relegated to an occasional player, since I now run with an iPod Touch.

I shopped around before buying this player, and I was attracted by these features:
1. AA Battery -- Absolutely critical for anyone who flies a lot or is otherwise disconnected from their power source. I travel internationally, and my iPod invariably dies in the middle of my flight. AA is nicer than AAA because it lasts longer, and I can also use my rechargeable AAs.
2. Solid -- Yes, it's slightly larger than other players, but I actually prefer that. I also like the handy little ring to attach it to a clip or belt loop.
3. Screen -- Again, my iPod Shuffle... how do I know what's playing? More importantly, if I have 200 songs, how do I find the one I want? I even loaded a photo of my son; it's small, but a cute feature.
4. Lock -- It has a sliding lock that is easy to use; no chance of bumping the track/volume button inadvertantly.
I was very satisfied with the sound quality and performance of this device.
When I purchased this player, I loaded a bunch of symphonies. As a result, I did not sync again for weeks. When I went to sync again, my computer--and Windows Media Player--would not even recognize the device. It's as if it does not exist.
While that is frustrating enough, what's more frustrating is that I cannot find a solution. I spent hours switching Windows Media Player to newer/older versions; I even tried other media players to no avail. The iriver web-site offers no assistance. Even other users who seem to have encountered this problem only mention the problem, not how they resolved it (most did not claim to resolve it, but were like me seeking a solution).
I finally gave up in disgust. If I spend 10 hours to get a player to work, was it worth the $100 I paid for it? I don't think so. And especially because after at least 10 hours, I am no closer to a solution.
And it is really unfortunate too, because for the weeks that this player DID work, I really, really liked it.

This product is ideal if you like most NPR but hate the crud that they often mix with the good stuff. You can record the show and then ff through anything quickly. Perfect for fund-drives!
Gift for my little Angel September 6, 2007
Got this for my daughter for her hard work at being a good student and kid. It turns out that she loves this MP3. She records her favorit songs from the radio. She also, gets gift cards that allows her to download music from Walmart Music center. Don't need a subscription so she happy with that. She takes it every where she goes. The controls are easy to get to navigate. I did some research before we bought this and it was definitely the best one out there.
Sweet iRiver T10 1GB MP3 player August 23, 2007
Speedy shipment of refurbished player at good price. The player has lots of features-good FM radio, browser, clock, attractive and informative display, neat screen saver, equalizer, and really sweet clear sound. I'm a Mac user and it took me a couple of days to upgrade the firmware so that it would work with my 2003 Mac.. After that frustration it works great. I'm impressed with the quality and design of iRiver.
