Class recording June 22, 2008 I bought this recorder so I could record the professor and play back his lecture during my 2+ hours of commuting each day. I sat in the middle of the room and the recorder worked fine for that task and the play back was clear.
What I ended up using the recorder for more was taking notes on the recorder after lecture, verbally, and then listening to those notes during my commute. Recording yourself is actually difficult, not because of the recorder, but because you feel like a dork recording your self.
I would give the recorder six stars if it could automatically removed all the awkward pauses, ums and other stumbles from my self recordings.
Great little recorder October 5, 2007 This digital voice recorder is super small with lots of memory. I used it in learning a new language, and it was very easy to record new words and play them back later.
This is a convenient way to record. It has several recording features, and it has different folders in which you can put recordings.

I love this thing. I use it for shopping trips. As I think of things I need, I grab it and record the item. Unlike a list, I don't lose or mislay it. Everything works and the features are easy to use, at least the ones I use. I talked my neighbor into getting one, but he's older than I am and keeps forgetting to take it on shopping trips. No gadget is fool-proof.
Nicely made and survives being dropped (so far). Small enough to tuck into the watch pocket in my pants.
great listener! September 8, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This item can record as if it was right by the speaker, even though they'll be 15 feet away at least. It picks up everything that's around. I'm going back to collage. I don't think it'll miss any part of the lecture.
Decent product, but only decent June 28, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This product was used for a traffic study project, along with the Olympus VN-4100. While the VN-1000 did what I needed it to do, I preferred using the VN-4100 because it was easier to operate and had a larger hard drive (allowing me to record at high quality at all times). As is, the VN-1000, in my opinion, is a quality product, but I give it 3 stars because there are better out there for a few extra dollars.
