Great to record classes! April 12, 2008 I used this to record a review my professor was giving in one of my law school classes. It worked out great. It was very clear, considering he walked away from the podium where the recorder was sitting and around the classroom at times. It was incredibly easy to transfer the recordings on to my computer. There were also different folders I could use to record, if you are interested in recording different classes.
Great Recorder March 6, 2008 Pros: 1. small and light weight 2. easy transfer of files to PC; just plug and transfer 3. great for college lectures 4. good sound quality 5. easy setup and plenty of options
Cons: 1. the speaker is not great but never really had to use it since you can transfer the files directly to your PC
Just what I wanted... March 3, 2008 I haven't been able to use this recorder much yet, but from the little I did use it, it works great! I look forward to doing more family interviews with this product as a backup to my memory!
Recorder itself is ok...BUT...... February 8, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Our church purchased this to record the sermons on Sundays to be burned to CD. The recorder does a fairly decent job, but you cannot access or retrieve the files without the proprietary software installed.
Been doing well with it for a year, then the computer had to be reformatted. Oh, and we can't find the CD to reinstall the software that is REQUIRED to access any data on the device. No problem, we'll just go to the website and download it like almost every other tech gadget I have, right? Wrong. Oh, you can get the software at the Olympus site, but you will pay 19.95 for it. Personally, I think this is a ripoff. If the software was optional and we could still access the files, that might be different. But now, unless we purchase the software, the fact that the PC had to be reformatted just rendered this expensive little recorder useless for anything other than use as a paperweight. (And yes, we had a backup for the pc, but the backup was bad)
perfect January 27, 2008 The digital voice recorder is terrific. Looks good, discrete, not obvious, records well, plays back well, easy to use software, many features.........good for voice...YES.... have not used it for music...the right price, the right size...just perfect
