Do not purchase August 19, 2008 Really liked the product at first. After the warranty ran out the system kept telling us it could not read the disk. I called the company several times and they told me to trash it. Gladly! It was a waste of my time and money. I will never again purchase a Coby product!
Not worth it April 22, 2008 We used this unit only a few times after putting it in the minivan. Besides not being able to read discs at times, the unit itself (not the battery) overheats after 30+ minutes of use and shuts down. The supplied headrest mounting bags cover the remote sensor so the remote control is useless while the unit is mounted in a vehicle.
Such a let down March 26, 2008 I wasted over $150 on this letdown. Surprise, the warranty ran out just as the player died. Blue screen on the main unit and no picture at all on the other. I will purchase another portable unit from another company.
Piece of Junk March 21, 2008 The unit has a great picture with great sound...when it works, which isn't often. We returned the first unit because it didn't work half the time, giving us a "wrong disc" message all the time. Customer suport? Forget it. We sent it back with a check for about $18.00 for return postage and paid about $7 to ship it back, so it cost $25, or about 13% of the purchase price to have it replaced under warrenty. The second unit arrived within a couple of weeks, which was impressive. The problem is that the second unit is just as bad as the first unit!! If you buy this unit, fork out the cash for an overpriced extended warrenty through your retailer (read the fine print) that will simply allow you to exchange it through the store in lieu of monkeying around with Coby. You will need the extended warrenty becasue the unit will fail.
Poor quality DVD player December 25, 2007 Update: broken already...its been a bit over 3 months and it's now as useful as a paper weight. I wont read any discs.
Initial review:
This is a decent dual screen DVD player. The picture quality is great on both screens and installation in a car is easy though the cable between the two screens is a little thick and hard to keep out of the way. I haven't experienced any skipping or problems in the few months Ive owned it. My only compaint is that to change the disc you need to remove the cables from the main screen, take the entire thing out of the case and open it up. Overall a decent item for the money.
