The SanDisk Sansa c250 will play MP3, WMA, WAV, and protected WMA DRM (digital rights management) music files. Enjoy the album art on the compact color screen, along with track information via ID3 tag support. The Sansa c250 MP3 player has two gigabytes of built-in flash memory, which allows you to store up to 500 songs (32 hours of playback) in 128 kpbs MP3 format, or up to 1,000 songs (64 hours of playback) in 64 kbps WMA format. Took me a little while to work a few things out, (like it doesn't seem to play nicely with XP Pro) but overall great product. Have even used it's personal recording utility and it works very well.

Reformat the internal flash on Linux as fat32, install Rockbox, & it's a pocket powerhouse. You get lossless audio, filesystem based playlists, mpeg-1 video with full CD audio, jpeg photos, synchronization with car ignition, very fast navigation. Rockbox only works with version 1 of the firmware & it's a bit clunky with USB but works.
RockBox crashes & falls back on the stock firmware for USB, so although RockBox supports SDHC cards, you can't write the SDHC cards on it.
Not sure what use video on it is, but it could be fun if you still ride in your parent's car on long trips.
Not sure what firmware version Amazon is currently shipping. The stock firmware either can't play files without ID3 tags or needs a windows program to import files. It definitely needs a Windows program to import photos & forget about video.
inexpensive but highly adequate June 18, 2008
I wanted a music player that would not be overpriced but would store a lot of songs so i could select per my mood. Do I want classical? jazz? opera? maybe a little Phil Collins or would I rather listen to general 1980s or maybe some punk. how about Queen? Or greats from the 70's. This player allows you to select playlists based upon album or artist, to shuffle, randomize. I do seem to notice that when I select to play all music from a single artist, like all 5 albums of Reliant K, it only selects some to play. I have not fully explored this asset as I use it mostly in my car and at the gym. The tape converter on my car radio died, so I am suffering. When are they going to just put in a USB plug in on the fron of car radios? Maybe they do, I'm too busy to get out much. Anyway, this player isn't terribly fancy, but it is highly adequate, not very expensive, and it has done a very good job these last 6 months and going.

The SanDisk C250 is a really good bargain for the price. It works better than I expected and is easy to operate.
Amazon's price was the best I found and I checked a ton of places. It is worth the money.

Very nice for the price. Good sound, no proprietary software. If you're looking for a basic straight forward player, this is an excellent choice.
