To parents, they're the new Hanson. To kids who've been tuning into Radio Disney and flipping the pages of Tiger Beat, they're geniuses. Jonas Brothers, the sophomore effort from the close-knit, close-up ready trio of New Jersey boys, is a mercilessly catchy collection of short but sweet punk- and emo-flavored confections. "Goodnight and Goodbye" grabs hold with guitar-fueled urgency, "Still in Love" borrows from old-school acts like KISS to build a slighter, kid-friendlier brand of classic rock, and "Games" has a respectable go at ska without sacrificing much in the way of pure-pop accessibility. The whole disc follows suit--a couple of ballads slide in ("Hello Beautiful" is a pretty one), but the brothers don't do much to dispel the idea that for them, uptempo ditties are where it's at. Twelve-year-olds, take note: CDVU+, the new format pioneered by Disney, takes cuteness into account; because this disc is configured with bonus material, photos and posters of Nick, Kevin, and Joe are just clicks away. --Tammy La Gorce

1 out of 5 stars This band is different! Honest! They're the next big thing! Buy it!!!   August 23, 2008

Which is more or less the line from the usual trend [...] sources. What I heard here is the standards of modern music being pushed further down into the ground and recieving another brutal beating. The Jonas Brothers suck, alright. But that's not the real issue. The issue is what are we going to do about the crappy record companies that market this UTTERLY DERIVATIVE effort which has as much difference from Hannah Montanna as Kylie Minogue varied from Jason Donavon back in those days? Ignorant teeny boppers and their dumb, brain addled soccer mom folks. I quite naively continue to believe that there's a point at which the stupidity is too blatant for people to accept.

4 out of 5 stars Jo Bros Make Fun and Upbeat Music   August 16, 2008
I have recently become a fan of this band. This album is a step up from their debut "It's About Time," with funkier, more complex songs. Hit songs "SOS," and "When you Look me in the Eyes," drive the album, while tracks such as "Goodnight and Goodbye," and "Hello Beautiful," trace te bands evolution from rock to soul. There is something for everyone on this album. The reason for four stars is that compared to their new album "A Little Bit Longer," "Jonas Brothers," falls short of the emotion portrayed in songs such as "A Little Bit Longer," "Sorry," and "Can't Have you." However, this album is better than most of their peers including Miley Cyrus. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.

3 out of 5 stars These brothers got potential   August 6, 2008

I first previewed these guys cd and didnt like what i was hearing, despite not hearing the songs in full. So i was dissapointed, i thought the cd cover looked kinda cool, but that was about it. I called these guys F-a-g-s, i think and didnt pay anymore attention since.

Then i heard a song on the radio, it was called "Play My Music", that song really hit me and actually spoke to me, the lyrics were good and i loved the sound and it ended up being the Jonas Brothers did the song (its from a movie soundtrack called CampRock)

Anyways...that song really impressed me, and made me wanna reconsider the Jonas Brothers and actually take time listening to their music. So i downloaded their self titled album and i ended up likeing quite a few songs on it.

Im not going to get into too deep, but ill tell you which songs that stood out to me, that i think are the best ones.

Hold On
Goodnight And Goodbye
Thats Just The Way We Roll
Australia
Inseperable
Hollywood

Those are the ones i like the most i think. Those arent the only decent songs, but those are the ones i like to put on more than the others.

I like the cd for what it is, but these guys still got a lot of growing to do. The talent and potential is there i think. They just have to mature in their sound, and they will.

I think this is a small preview of whats to come, becouse some of the songs really make you wanna sing a long and have are somewhat memorable. But they are kinda still childish in some ways and a bit simplistic, but what can we expect from a band that got its debut and fame from tagging along with Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus on tour? Nothing high art, but surprisingly i saw some real potential as a great future pop rock group.

Dont let the 3 star rating fool you. I do like this band, but i think they got a lot better music in them coming in the not so distant future.

All in all, this is easy to listen to pop thats good clean fun.
Im expecting awesome things from this band.

Not impressed with the Jonas Brothers. My kids talked me into getting the CD with another purchase so I could qualify for Free Super Saver Shipping and it was a waste of money.
