CLEVER LITTLE GADGET July 26, 2008 A CLEVER LITTLE GADGET -
FAR TOO COMPLICATED TO USE -
TO THE POINT OF BEING USELESS
Good little MP3 player April 24, 2008 This is a good small MP3 player. Fits easily in a pocket or hang around your neck. The sound quality is good. 1 gigabyte is plenty of storage for me. You can use it with Realplayer or Real Rhapsody on the computer to download files. I particularly like the option of using Windows explorer. I have a large collection of Old Time Radio programs saved on CD in MP3. It is easy to transfer files this way. I just plug in the Iriver player's provided USB ports open the files on the computer and tranfer the file by click and dragging. I know folks have complained about the controls. They are not hard, you just have to be patient and careful. the menu toggle switch does not give you much leeway. You have to be very careful on which direction you want toggle the switch to get what you want. If your needs are small and you want something small, handy and still inexpensive, this MP3 player will do you fine. It also has an FM radio and microphone for recording.
If you love/hate NPR March 18, 2008 This is an odd product, the designers were on some kind of trip when they came up with this "joystick" which defies logic and fine motor coordination.
But... if you want to fast forward through the horror that is Susan Stamberg on Morning Edition, this thing will do it for you. You set the time record, it records from your local NPR station, and you FF through the crud.
Sounds great, sizes great but cursor can be better January 10, 2008 Amazing sound with possibilities to tweak even more, I use with other headphones. Its small, looks nice with color display, I like the screen saver and monitor of for save batterie that you can also turn off.
I just didn't like the cursor. sometimes it goes to places that I don't want, and sometimes it's not easy to come back.
My second iriver mp3 player. I'll probally buy the third. cheers
Big sound, small player... a little quirky, but wonderful to listen to January 3, 2008 Sound quality is great! I like the bright color screen (which does shut off to conserve power, but all you have to do is touch any button to bring it back up). Battery life is pretty good, though not fantastic.
The navigation is a little different from other players, but I didn't mind it with my old iRiver and I don't mind it now--it seems to be a little more sensitive than the old iRivers, but it really isn't that bad (just takes a little getting used to... I actually prefer the joy stick to normal buttons now).
I haven't had the player for very long, so I can't comment on its durability, but my old iRiver (a iFP-100 something with only 64MB of space) stood up to a ton of abuse and still works, in fact. I also don't know about the quality of the the ear buds (I use my own--a $10 pair of Sony's).
I've tried many different brands of mp3 players since my old iRiver, but nothing has matched it. Overall, I love the player. The T60 is small, very light-weight, and has great sound quality.
