Battery problems July 9, 2007 I have had this MP3 player for 1 and a half years. Battery does not hold a charge anymore. I do not use this device often either. Battery costs $100 and that does not include shipping and handling from RCA Thompson. Do not buy this device if you want to enjoy long lasting music
So far I am happy, it does take some time to learn November 1, 2006 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I just purchased this product clearence at a local book/music store, actually the RD-2826 20 gb version identical to this one, and I must say I am impressed so far. 20 GB capacity is a decent capacity. the display is big, nice blue back light easy to read. I have figured out how to make playlists, and it sorts songs by group. you can drop and drag files to the unit, or use Musicmatch to sync with the unit as well. Works a hard drive on the drop and drag. It comes with everything from power/charger cord, connection cables to computer and stero system, and a case. Also headphones to boot. Software disc as well. Only drawback is that the battery has lasted me between 5-6 hours when loading songs, have not seen how long it last with playing only. Also, it has locked on me a couple of times, but the reset button works ok without wiping hard drive, but worrys me. Not a bad player, Just take the time to read the istructions first, and be patient. I got the playlist finally set up etc. It does take a combinations of using the music match program and "drag and drop" to get the player organize. Just remember, when making playlist, select the songs from your lyra drive, save the playlist, then you have to go onto you hard drive click My computer C:/program files/musicmatch/musicmatch jukebox/playlists, and drag the little playlist file to you Lyra drive. Patient is key.
Problems! May 13, 2005 5 out of 8 found this review helpful
disclaimer: I purchased a "refurbished" product from internet.
I received on a Monday at 6:00 p.m. and by Tuesday at the same time (1 DAY) the hard drive had already crashed and broken... something about needing a new HD System and needing to format the HD... 1 day and already this! I have to go thru some warranty company which will take a long time I assume. RCA wants nothing to do with this. This sucks. I don't recommend this product to anybody. Pay the extra money for an ipod!!!!
Very Slow April 22, 2005 5 out of 10 found this review helpful
This thing is very slow and it constantly freezes (at least the one I had). Also, it is too expensive to be such a piece of crap. (...)
Don't recommend it. April 13, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
My Lyra Jukebox stopped working at 3 months, just after the warranty expired. There is NOTHING I can do about it and now I'm approximately $300 in the hole with no way to listen to my music, and I can't afford to lose that kind of money again.
If I ever have enough, I'm buying an iPod and sticking with it instead. The Lyra had problems even before the hard drive just stopped working one day out of the blue- it wouldn't load certain songs, even when they were re-uploaded and the files were checked for errors. It froze up on a regular basis. Some of the keys even stuck.
Personally I am never buying RCA again, and would definitely not recommend the product.
