Amazon.com Product Description Sony's TCS-30D cassette recorder offers a multitude of features which make it an excellent choice for a cassette voice recorder. The two channel, one track recorder promises accurate recording. This recorder will record and playback in stereo. Record in stereo with the included stereo mic. Stereo playback comes from using the stereo headphone jack. For recording ease, Sony has installed double recording time and voice operated recording. Sony's Sony-Matic automatic recording level control will keep your recordings at one constant level. Play-back editing or transcribing becomes more useful with this feature. If you don't choose to use the stereo mic, you have the option to use the built-in monaural mic. An essential playback feature is the playback speed control. With this adjustment, you can adjust the speed between thirty percent of normal and negative fifteen percent of normal. This is a great tool for those transferring interviews or lectures. If you find yourself fighting to hear the cassette player via the 359 mW, built-in speaker, plug the supplied stereo earphones into the recorder and your troubles will be lessened. There are two options in powering this recorder. The first is an optional AC adaptor. If batteries are more useful, use the required two AA batteries; these batteries will run for up to eleven hours. With the LED battery level indicator you can be watchful of remaining battery time. With automatic shut-off, you can be assured that you will not be wasting batteries needlessly. The hinged battery lid will keep your precious batteries in the player and not on the ground. Other features of the TCS-30D recorder include: clear voice recording system, cue and review, pause switch, stop/pause release function. The recorder's color is black. What's in the Box Sony TCS-30D cassette recorder, stereo mic, headphones, hand strap and user's manual.

great cassette player July 14, 2008 great cassette player/ recorder but to expensive for me why are people charging over 100 dollars it should only be 50 or 80 so i doubt i'll b eordering this one for a while. Thats the only reason why i give it four stars but its performance gets an A+
Pretty good March 17, 2007 The little recorder/player comes with a mic and headphones. I bought it to transfer a lot of old tapes onto my computer. It does not have any professional features like precision editing, but it does have a nice variable speed control for playback, which is helpful to compensate some of the old tapes that were recorded off-speed.
Good stereo sound -- built-in mike would help January 10, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I exchange audio letters with friends, and this stereo recorder was purchased after my Sony 100 DVS died and no replacement parts were available. The sound quality is perfectly fine, though it does not pick up ambient sounds nearly as well as the old high-end machine. It comes with a stereo microphone, but it would be great if the microphone were attached to the unit -- as it is, there is a long clip-on cord. This makes it tough to do "off-the-cuff" recording. Overall, a good value for the money. The other machine cost nearly $300.
I got what I wanted November 10, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've been wanting one of these for years. It is so very handy as I can take it with me to any room or to my vehicle, as we only have a CD player in it. I listen to a lot of tapes and my regular tape deck just wasn't cutting it. Thank you for still carrying a tape player that I don't have to wear head phones to!
Great Little Recorder June 7, 2006 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
I've had this recorder for over a year & use it every week. I use it to record chorus & voice rehearsals& it works great. I always use the stereo mic that was supplied with the unit. I used 2 separate recorderes to record one of my voice lessons & this one worked just as well as my larger, more expensive cassette recorder. For non-professional use, this little recorder is great.
