Sony's WM-EX190 stereo cassette player is portable enough, and, at under half a pound, light enough to go anywhere you do. Sony's Mega Bass Sound System produces deep, rich bass to enliven appropriate music, an anti-rolling mechanism maintains stable tape speed to minimize music-distorting "wow and flutter" while the player is in motion. The player's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) maintains an even volume level, guarding against unintended level increases and evening the output of musical passages that vary widely in level. Automatic shut-off (in playback mode) extends battery life and helps prevent both mechanical and tape wear by turning off unit at the end of each tape side. Supplied MDR (Micro Dynamic Receiver)-type over-ear headphones offer wide dynamic range and clear sound, and the unit also comes with a handy belt clip. This is a simple casette player, easy to use and reliable. My wife uses it to listen to books on tape when she jogs, gardens, or does other active things. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find decent casette players without other extraneous add-ons such as radios, and we're glad Sony still makes a good one.

This cassette player is well designed and well built. We have been using them for over four years in our elementary school and have had only one cassette player out of 25 stop working. Children (ages 7 - 11) use them to listen to recorded books as they read along silently. We power them with rechargeable batteries. I also use one to listen to music when I am walking, and it sounds fine to me.

I had some trouble fitting the batteries in the compartment, but I won't now that I learned the trick. Otherwise, it's easy to operate, lightweight, and has good sound quality for the price.

Compact easy to use machine, that gives good quality sounds on the move. Economical on batteries it give excellent value for money.

I've been using the cassette player while doing cardio at the gym. In less than a month of use, the sound goes from non-existent to static to fine. It's still covered by the warranty, but Sony has informed me that they usually replace the faulty players with refurbished players and at this time, there have no refurbished players of this model.
