Amazon.com Product Description
Enjoy all your favorite music on the move with the TrekStor i.Beat mood FM digital music player. The unit--which supports MP3, WMA, and WAV audio formats and is compatible with secure WMA-DRM9 Internet music services--is compact and lightweight, with a sleek gray housing that measures a mere 2.9 by 1.1 by 0.7 inches (W x H x D). More significantly, the i.Beat mood FM's 2 GB of flash memory stores enough music for almost any workout or commute--up to 32 hours of MP3 and 64 hours of WMA files. The device is no slouch from a playback perspective, either, with such options as repeat play (one or all songs), shuffle, repeat shuffle, folder, repeat folder, and resume. And navigation couldn't be simpler thanks to the easy-to-hold soft-touch housing and extra-sharp, two-color OLED display, which offers a 128 x 64 pixel resolution.

Though the i.Beat mood FM is primarily designed for music, the unit also functions as a mobile storage device, with the ability to hold text files, small photos, and other data. Listeners will also dig the integrated microphone and voice recorder, which lets them record voice notes, lectures, and interviews in WAV format. And should you need to free up space on the player, it's possible to delete files without connecting to your PC first. As a bonus, the i.Beat mood FM offers a built-in FM tuner, which receives all your favorite FM stations while recording specific songs or programs. The tuner comes with 30 station presets and an automatic station search function for quick channel switching.

Other details include a USB 2.0 interface (cable included) for connecting to PCs or Macs, support for ID3 tagging, a multilingual user interface, six predefined equalizer settings (bass, jazz, classical, normal, pop, and rock), and an automatic shutoff function with a sleep timer. The i.Beat mood FM--which comes with a set of stereo earphones and a neck strap--is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98 SE, Me, 2000, and XP, Mac OS X 10.3.x, and Linux from Kernel 2.4.x operating systems and runs for roughly 16 hours on a single AAA battery (included). The device also carries a one-year warranty.

1 out of 5 stars comes up short   March 17, 2008

What trekstor doesn't tell you is that the MP3 player's chipset can administrate 480 files maximum. What this means is that even if you try to fill up this player with 1000 mp3 files at 64 kBit/s each (~2GB), you'll only be able to access less than 480. The number 480 seems to include all folders, sub-folders and files. My capacity was 371 files, even though when plugged into the PC, I had 500 songs.

5 out of 5 stars So happy with my purchase   April 15, 2007
I was a bit hesitant to order this product because of the previous reviewer, but I thought the price and the features were right, so I thought I'd take a chance. Please see the comment on the previous review; the sound is great on the product.

There are a few things to consider with the product.

1. You must organize the files yourself on your desktop or they will be jumbled on the player, but I actually like that because I can organize it the way I want. You can make folders for artists and put all the songs in them to organize it easily. It works just like a jumpdrive, so there are not problems with taking music from other computers or giving music to other computers. This also means you must know where the music files are saved on your computer.
2. Only mp3 files work, and I originally thought this was a problem because I use itunes. However, itunes can convert the files files to mp3 fomat if they're not yet in that format.
3. The functioning of this product is slightly more complicated than an ipod, but it's easy once you get used to it.

Also, the voice recorder and FM player work well. The player is also very light, and the display is easy to read. Take that ipod! For a player that's cheaper than an ipod shuffle (even including shipping) you can actually see what songs are on the player, you can choose the song you want to play, and it has double the memory.

I'm also planning to travel abroad this summer, so I'm happy that I don't have to worry about getting a converter or anything. This player just uses on AAA battery that's very easy to replace, and it lasts a long time.

I submitted a question to the Trekstor website, and I received a helpful response within a couple days.

I chose the 3-5 day shipping, and the player arrived in 2.

1 out of 5 stars Low quality and terrible sound.   April 9, 2007

Got the mp3 player and the headphone jack was defective. Had to be in just the right position to get sound. When I could hear it the sound was not very good. Nothing compared to my iaudio U3 or F2 by Cowen.

5 out of 5 stars Great Little MP3 Player   March 31, 2007

I have really enjoyed using this mp3 player. It holds quite a few albums, so I can keep a variety of music on it for whatever mood I'm in. It also records voice, and can play and record FM stations. It is also easy to add or delete music - just drag & drop. The only downfall I have experienced is recording from an FM station. I was listening to a discourse, but wanted to record it as well. So, I hit record, set the player down, and didn't have the earbud cord extended. Since the cord acts as an antenna, the recording was staticy and unusable. Next time I try it, I will make sure the cord is extended or keep one of the buds in to make sure the reception is clear. Overall, I am satisfied with this product and have recommended it to friends.
