Product Description Sony provides everything you need to put the M-657V Pressman Microcassette Recorder to work right out of the box! The All-in-one Kit includes 1 cassette, 2 batteries, an external Microphone, and a carrying pouch. Voice Operated Recording activates the recorder only when audible sound is present, conserving tape and eliminating soundless passages. Additional features include a Battery LED Indicator with Alert LED, a Record LED with a Voice Mirror, 26 Hour Battery Life, Fast Playback, and a "Clear Voice Plus" Recording System which enhances voice quality for greater clarity. And that's not all - discover these features and more when you record with the M-657.

Deceptive description December 25, 2006 This is not a review. I just want to know the answer to my question. You advertise this cassette recorder as a M-657V, the model I want, yet when the picture of the unit is enlarged, it shows an M-650V. What gives?
Just prefect! November 4, 2003 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
I'm at a loss for words. I was aiming for a digital voice recorder, but after checking a few price tags and reading the reviews for this one, I decided to go analog. These are my two cents: Amazing. I use it mainly for classroom lectures (I find that going through the parts of the lecture I was asleep through *does* help :). I sit at the very back of the classroom (room that fits about 50 people) and I don't use the external mic. I just press the record button and leave the recorder next to me. I use the so-called _low quality_ setting (slow tape) to extend the recording time on my tapes, and this recorder picks up the sound of the chalk on the board as clear as day! Highly recommended.
GREAT RECORDER! September 23, 2003 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I had a digital voice recorder....now I have a Sony microcassette recorder. The Sony is 10 times better. Easy to use, wonderful sound on playback. Excellent value.
Great intermediate level recorder for students August 20, 2003 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
I bought this recorder a couple of weeks ago for class lectures at a University. I have been extremely happy with the quality of the product...It comes with an external mic that you can clip to your shirt, or sit on a desk so you can be conspicuous in your recordings. I chose this one over digital ones because I needed to record for long periods of time, and the digital ones seemed to only do that in poor quality modes. I can pick up the Professor's voice crisply and clearly, even on the slow mode. And the VOR option only records when someone is talking...
