The SRF-M37V is lightweight, simple-to-use radio, weather and TV receiver. Weighing only 3.3 ounces (94 grams), this compact player is a perfect companion for the track, bike trail or work area. The Walkman gives you many choices of listening pleasure. You will receive FM and AM radio, TV (channels 2-13) and weather (channels 1-7.) The FM antenna is part of the headphone cord, so you are sure to receive a strong signal. The AM antenna is a ferrite bar type. The local/distant switch will help you fine tune the reception. Both the volume and tuning buttons are digital, providing accurate mechanisms to find the exact station you desire. There are twenty-five preset stations on the SRF-M37V. This includes ten FM, five AM, five TV and five weather stations. There are also five direct key presets, allowing you to electronically tune into any five stations you desire, even if listening to a different band. Sony has included their MDR (micro dynamic receiver) headphones with the SRF-M37V. Better than satisfactory August 17, 2008
This radio is quite nice. I use it while riding the bus to and from work and the sound is good; it is easy to use and the headphones are comfortable. The only downside is that the reception is not as good as I thought it would be.

I have had this radio for about 3 years, and the first one finally succumbed to the frequent drops (it survived several falls from my bicycle at 15 MPH). The internal AM antenna finally dislodged permanently after I fixed it a few times
The AM reception is amazing. At home near Philadelphia, I can easily pick up all New York stations, and can regularly hear Chicago, Cleveland and Cincinnati stations.
The weather band function also works well.
The FM sound quality is OK. I have seen some criticism of this radio in other reviews, but the expectations seem to be unrealistic. It clearly serves its purpose as a small sports radio.
I also saw some criticism of the inadvertent button pushing while exercising - the unit has a lock switch this disables all controls except the volume control - this works very well.
I would highly recommend this radio, and as proof, I just bought a replacement.

I bought this based on the reiviews and the brand name (Sony) but I experienced really bad reception and static while using it during my walks in open areas such as parks.
Reliable workhorse-good features July 25, 2008
I bought this radio several years ago and have taken it all over. It goes with me to the gym, on the bus to work, always in my pocket. It's been really reliable and gets great FM reception, and good AM reception. I wish there were a way to counteract the interference from the bus engine/electronics, but that may be beyond the capacity of such an inexpensive radio.
I've never immersed it, but it has gotten wet, and been dropped-it's really well put together. I also love the lock feature to keep the station from changing inadvertently.
amazing little product July 24, 2008
I have had this product for 6 or 7 years. I listened to it at work and dropped it many times, and the walkman still works. Well, all the stations are worn off, like I said I have had the product many years. I listen to it laying in the sun. Well, the other day, I was laying in my nephew's pool on a float and had it on top of me where it would not get wet. I fell off the float and in the pool my walkman went. I thought oh, no, I love this walkman. I know they do not make them anymore. I was very upset. I hit it on my hand to try to get all the water out, took the battery out, and let it dry in the sun. I put the battery back in, and plugged in the headphones...I COULD HEAR STATIC..I was shocked, it still worked. I got the clock to work, and the walkman does still play. I can still get all the radio stations, the tv sound, and it works, amazing. I would advise anyone to get this little walkman. It is a great product, after all the times I have dropped it, and even in the pool, it still works.
