| Customer Reviews:
Nice functions but horrible sound January 6, 2009 My old CD alarm clock bit the dust and I purchased the Emerson model as a replacement. The unit looks very nice and the big LED display is crisp and sharp. Setting up the functions on this alarm clock was very easy to do and it has a good amount of features such as two alarms, option to wake up to radio or CD music, etc.
The worse part about this alarm clock is the terrible sound quality it gives. I've heard some bad radio alarm clocks before, but Emerson has outdone itself with probably the worse sounding CD alarm clock of all-time. Music, if you can call it that, that comes out of these speakers sounds as if it was pumped through a tin can...and a poor one at that.
If the quality of sound doesn't matter a bit to you, you might want to get this...but considering that a CD player is supposed to play music, this one should be avoided at all costs.
Will destroy your CDs January 1, 2009 It won't play even BRAND NEW mint condition CDs (they just skip). And, to my horror, when you take the CDs out there are big circular scratches around them. I lost two good CDs thanks to this piece of garbage. This "CD Clock Radio" is the worst purchase I have ever made. AVOID!
Very Reliable December 23, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've never had a problem with this clock losing the time in a power outage; I change the battery an average of once a year.
It's very simple to use, and I like having the choice between waking up to an alarm, the radio, or a CD.
The CD feature can be programmed to specific selections, repeat or random, and it's even easier than setting the time.
The best part about having a combo player like this is that it leaves room on my nightstand for other things like books, bottled water, and my Slim-Owl Super Bright LED Book Light, White.
Totally unreliable December 8, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this piece of garbage less than a month ago, threw away the box and have been very upset since. The directions say to insert a battery because the unit is very sensitive to power blips. The time is totally wrong most of the time! My old clock was plugged into the exact same outlet and I had no problem with it. I have changed batteries three times and still no luck. Also, there is no way to wake up to "random" playing on the cd, so every morning I wake up to the same notes from the first song. I wouldn't buy this if I were you. I can't return it (they want $9 for postage and I don't have the box), so I am out of luck and wasted my money.
