Amazon.com Product Description The MDR-W08L headphones fit inside the ear for jostle-free listening. Created for active listeners, these headphones are better held in place with the wide, over-the-head headband. They are extremely lightweight (.5 ounces) and will provide hours of comfortable listening. Sony uses 13.5 mm driver units in these headphones. While lightweight and small enough to fit inside the ear, they also deliver a good bass sound and wide frequency range (down to 20 Hz.) Neodymium magnets give the headphones maximum energy at a minimal size and weight. The open-air design allows for ambient noise to enter the ear, a safe feature for exercisers as you will hear car horns, passing bikers and dog barks. The cord is one meter long (3.3 feet) and the nickel-plated mini-plug offers crisp sound delivery. The headphones are a modern black color. What's in the Box Sony MDR-W08L headphones

They work, but only for a few months January 6, 2009 The fellow who indicated that they only work for a few months is absolutely correct. The wire they use for these headphones doesn't stand up to much wear. I've fixed a few pair, but it is a pain. Same problem every time. At any point where the cable is bent (1)where there is strain relief to mitigate this problem at the plug in side and (2) just inside the headpiece where the wire bends to get to the speaker, the wires will break within a few months. I also would pay $30 for them if they just lasted a year or more.
A great product! January 2, 2009 I got these solely for gym and running use because they stay on more securely than earbuds, and they've turned out to be a wonderfully durable pair of earphones. They get bundled up and stashed in my full gym bag all the time, yet the headband won't break; I've worn them in pouring rain and in cold weather with no problem. I've had mine for at least four years and keep forgetting to buy a fresh pair because they still work alright. As for the sound quality part, I think they're ok, but I'm sure anyone who knows anything about hi-fi stuff would disagree (I understand that a $10 product must have flaws). However, I think these earphones are great, and I'm glad they're still available so I can finally get that fresh pair.
great earphones but have to be replaced December 15, 2008 Like other people have said, these are great earphones..I have had them for a little over a year and one side shorted out today so here I am to buy another pair. I guess this seems to be a common problem! I still like them a lot and wear them at the gym. They are very comfortable in your ear and I will continue to buy replacements, but wish sony would work on fixing the problem.
great headphones...for like, 4 months... December 12, 2008 i can't seem to NOT buy these...mainly because they fit snuggly and comfortably in your ear while working out, they NEVER fall out or require ajustment...the PROBLEM is that they work for about 4-6 months, depending upon how heavily you use them, before one of the earpieces goes out...its happened on EVERY pair i've owned, so many i can't count...fortunately they are cheap...so just buy 2 pairs so you don't get annoyed when they do, because they WILL....i wish Sony would work on that problem, i would even pay MORE for them if they would just last a YEAR!
Life saver! December 4, 2008 A friend of mine gave me these headphones because my ear buds always fell out of my ears. Apparently I have small ear canals. I was devastated when they stopped working...over a year later. Anyway, I tried to find the same ones in the store but ended up buying a few different brands that were all horrible! After a few days of trying to make the other ones work, I did some research and ordered the Sony MDR-W08L again. I have been completely satisfied since I got them and will continue to buy replacements when needed.
