overated compact lantern January 7, 2009 The light output is poor when using it as a flashlight for strolling the trails in the dark. A regular flashlight has a more direct light output. However the compact lantern makes a great emergency light if you get lost and need to be seen in the dark. Pairing with a flashlight, the micropacker lantern becomes a winner but not too great if its used solo.

I use this for camping and it really is quite handy to have a light weight little latern type flashlight, so it is easy to pack and carry with you. Also makes it nice to be able to set up and not only have a beam of light, but fill the surrounding area with quality light.
Not very bright November 30, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This lantern doesn't give out as much light as other LED lanterns. The Coleman 3AA MicroPacker LED Lantern is a better choice because it has a much brighter LED that can fill a decent sized room with light. Since it's the same size as this one, it doesn't take up any more space for campers. This compact lantern is okay for the small confines of a tent, but it's not the best choice for an emergency home light.
compact and bright November 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I use this for my kids to carry around and to keep in their rooms when we have blackouts. MUCH safer than using a candle. Great on battery life. I bought three of these for emergencies.

For the price buy several. This little baby worked great on recent camping trip. I wish you could adjust the brightness, but overall works as described
