Amazon.com Product Description Get the best of both worlds: A modern and high-performance field radio combined with classic styling, rugged construction, and military-style controls. The Eton S350DLS Deluxe AM/FM Shortwave Radio also features highly sensitive and selective analog tuner circuitry that ensures reliable, accurate tuning across the AM, FM, and shortwave bands. Other features include a large, full-range speaker for clear sound; a line-level output; separate bass, treble, and RF gain controls; and wide and narrow bandwidth filter controls. All this and more is contained in a case that's only 10.5 inches wide and weighs under 4 pounds. It's a great way to tune in to local and international news, music, and sports wherever you roam. Design and Controls One look at the S350DLS Deluxe and you'll think you've stepped back in time. However, the classic design conceals technology that's anything but retro. The large, integrated speaker offers full-range sound while the digital frequency readout displays accurate frequency stepping for all three bands. The bright LCD screen also displays clock and alarm info. Precise tuning is handled by a large tuning knob and a concentric, independent fine-tuning control knob. You also get variable RF gain control, a rotary volume control, independent bass and treble control, and a low-pass filter for shortwave and AM reception. Controls for clock and alarm functions are arrayed above the LCD display. A built-in telescopic antenna handles FM and shortwave reception, and there's a built-in ferrite bar antenna for AM. Tuning and Bands On the AM band, you'll get tuning between 530 and 1710 KHz, while FM tuning is available from 88 to 108 MHz. When tuning in shortwave, the S350DLS Deluxe offers continuous coverage from 3 to 28 MHz. This includes 13 international broadcast bands: 11, 13, 15, 16, 19, 22, 25, 31, 41, 49, 60, 75 and 90 meters. As mentioned, the S350DLS Deluxe is built with high-quality tuner circuitry that maximizes accuracy, while offering an AM/shortwave frequency lock system. Connections and Power The S350DLS Deluxe is equipped with a number of connectivity features, including a stereo line-level output and jacks for supplementary AM, FM and shortwave antennas -- great for boosting reception when you need it. A stereo headphone jack makes it easy to listen to the radio in full stereo without disturbing others. The unit can be powered with the included AC adapter, or via four "D" or four "AA" batteries. Extras The S350DLS Deluxe also allows you to set the radio's clock and alarm while the radio is still playing. A sleep timer will shut the radio off after a set interval, and last but not least, a convenient, strap-style carry handle makes it easy to take the S350DLS Deluxe along for any jaunt. What's in the Box S350DLS Deluxe radio, AC adapter, and user's manual.
Product Description Blending the look of an old-time classic with the latest radio technology, the S350 is built on the outside like a retro military field radio but houses superior electronic components inside. A digital LCD shows frequency or time, and the clock can be set for 12- or 24-hour formats. Power is supplied by either four D or four AA batteries (not included) or the provided AC adapter. FREE set of deluxe stereo headphones included. Dimensions: 7"H x 12-1/2"W x 3-1/2"D. Not for the Ham Operator but Suitable September 13, 2008 I got a very cost effective deal (under $50) and am well satisfied. As I haven't watched television in decades and have learned to be patient as well, scanning the shortwave bands is a kick - particularly when I pick up something distant. The radio serves well as a portable for regular AM/FM use outdoors. Performance is enhanced with addition of an antenna one can put together inexpensively and with a nickel's worth of creativity. Of course, I'm speaking from the perspective of having assembled a Heathkit about fifty years ago . . .

whats there to say,i live on the edge of no where[my choice],where stations, the close ones are 70 miles to over 200 an this radio pulls them in great.I will buy another when this ones gives up[10 years an counting]but then it might out live me.
broken on arrival, no power, no way to turn it on September 7, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
i got the radio today, took it out the box, couldnt turn it on. It looks like it is already broken.. Too late to return it to Amazon, Grundig help line is closed as their work on pacific time and i live on the east coast. So i dont know yet, what i m gonna do with this broken radio. It was a gift for my dad I ordered it a month before his birthday, you have 30 day to send it back to amazon. If you buy something make sure you test it before the 30 days goes by. I ll post another review later, if i get another functionning radio, to tell you at least if they work well. So far i dont know, no power with the power supply or battery. Is this purely bad luck or bad quality??2 weeks later...going trough replacement they just sent me another one quickly who works perfectly, .Well I was just out of luck, easy and reliable customer service...Radio workds like a charm, good soung, good reception, would buy again....4 stars now
Do the batteries ever die? March 31, 2007 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I listen to this radio regularly, often several hours a day, and don't think I've replaced the batteries twice in 2 years. All said, a great radio, the AM and FM reception is great, although I've found the shortwave reception to be so-so, the caveat being I live in the city. While camping, I tend to pick up far more channels, albeit fewer than I've managed with other radios.
One wildly annoying aspect is the radio's backlight: it is timed, perhaps 20 seconds. Therefore if you're fumbling with it in the dark (as I regularly do while camping), you need to keep one hand close to the backlight button in order to continually press it.
All said a great radio, although I'm evaluating others as looking for a truly killer shortwave device.
Expensive JUNK !! Horrible Reception.. December 14, 2006 4 out of 14 found this review helpful
My 10 dollar portable Panasonic radio has BETTER and Clearer reception than this overpriced crap. Even if the radio is by my window , reception is static and horrible. Don't fall for the GRUNDING name like I did, you can get a high quality shortwave radio for much less. Panasonic makes one for 40 bucks !!! Amazon also carries that awesome panasonic portable for less then 10 bucks. I feel ripped off by Grundig. Boycott this crap.
