Heat Paint Remover December 2, 2008 Worked well to strip the paint on a small (8'x6') porch and steps. Worked much better than a heat gun. The radiant heater keeps the heat concentrated on a small area making it easy to scrape off the paint.
Works OK, but Flimsy Construction November 10, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The devise works as advertised, but is pretty delicate. Was coming apart after a day's use. I ended-up using typical heat gun from hardware store to finish my project. With any of these heat stripping tools, patience and a slow pace are key to success. Preheat the paint, and then directly heat the paint just in front of your slowly moving scrapper. It's a two-handed process using both heating devise & scrapper in concert.
I wish I had this tool years ago! October 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't say enough good things about the Warner 1000-Watt Radiant Heat Paint Remover. It has cut the time I used to spend removing paint so much so that I wish that there were more hours in a day for me to use it. For the price and the results it brings it cannot be beat. If I had known about this product years ago my home projects might have been completed by now.
Worked good for our task October 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Used the tool to remove multiple layers of paint on exterior of 150 year old home. Considering the cost, it was a great investment. Faster than a hot air gun on wide boards, but not as good in corners. If it quit today, I would buy another.
works but has disadvantages and quality problems August 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product works more or less as designed (it is a large heater element, with a cheap metal reflector/cover and handle). THe nuts that hold the cover in place come loose as you use it and WILL fall off when You're not aware of it, so you would have to hunt through paint scrapings or grass or ? whatever is in your drop cloth to find it and probably won't be able to. The cover is actually a functional part of the device so you need to keep it in place. If it slides out of alignment, the element will be able to contact the surface of your house or other object you are scraping paint from and ignite the paint or wood more easily (and burn divits into the wood very quickly.) I would guess that Warner knows about this problem - there is no locking washer or other hardware to retain the nuts so they have probably been falling off and getting lost for as long as the company has made this item. Other problems are that it heats somewhat unevenly (right side hotter than left?) and that it is much too easy to ignite the paint, wood siding, or melt things (like wires on the exterior of your house - old houses have a lot of these for some reason). Be very careful while using this tool.
