4 out of 5 stars A clip on that sounds great and goes the distance   October 27, 2008
Over the past several years I've tried many types of headphones for running and gym workouts. The Koss KSC35 fits this application the best. What makes them so good is their light as a moon beam weight and the suug fit to the ear. You can wear these in comfort for your marathon training long runs without fatigue. They also work with my sun glasses; neither slip. I've tried the newer Koss KSC75 but they are heavier and the fit is not as tight; ditto the older Koss KSC50.

Some may not like the open back design as they leak sound out and ambient noise in. For running and other outdoor activities this is good since you are aware of your surroundings. They mate well with all kinds of MP3 players e.g. Creative MuVo, Zen, iPods, Sansa and the like.

It seems like Koss would like to phase this model out but there is a steady demand. Koss offers the KSC35 factory direct albeit at an inflated price. They do not appear to be selling these through retail channels however.

If you tried other clip-on and neckband headphones and experienced discomfort after a short duration you may want to try the Koss KSC35's. Oh, and the sound, quite remarkable for headphones in this price range.

3 out of 5 stars Good not excellent   August 5, 2006

One of my friend recommended very highly about it. SO I got two one for me and another one for my friend. But it was not even half as good as I expected. My 13$ SONY walmart earphone sounds just as good.

When u turn up the volume it sounds good, but I do not intend to be deaf. Overall I find it ok.

5 out of 5 stars 5-stars! My favorite Truly Portable headphones to this day!   November 4, 2005

I've tried many portable headphones (and by portable I mean you can put them away into your jacket pocket), and these are one of the best portable ones I've seen. Excellent sound and you can barely hear them if you stand next to a person who's listening music, so great for listening in public areas. (At home I use Grado SR60, which are my very favorite but if you wear them on the bus don't be surprised if people start singing along to your music :)

I bought KSC75 recently to upgrade my old KSC35, and the KSC75 are not bad for the price, but I would rather go for slightly more expensive KSC35 which sound much better. The KSC75 sound a bit like from inside a bottle, but only *very slightly* so. Base reproduction is also less pronounced than the KSC35's.

KSC75 look a bit nicer and you can adjust them to fit closer to your ear by bending the metal piece that goes around the ear. KSC35 has the earpiece made of plastic so it doesn't bend but they fit me more comfortably than KSC75 I think because the earpiece is thinner (I wear eyeglasses).

As with all headphones of this design, namely ones that're just applied flat to your ears not using some pads around to block the sound, you can pretty much hear everything around you as though you didn't have them on at all. When it gets really noisy at the gym sometimes, it gets difficult to hear them.

Also, you might want to try Sennheiser PX 100, they seem to get very good reviews although a bit more expensive. I haven't tried them personally so that's all I can say. They're not Truly portable though, because you can't put them away into your jacket pocket.

Bottom line - Excellent sound in the price range! You can also check out Porta-Pro, they deliver a bit more base than KSC35 (because of their design they push more on the ears and also less comfortable to me because of that).

Overall I give:
KSC35: 5 stars
KSC75: 3.5 stars
Porta-Pro: 4 stars

4 out of 5 stars Great Phones...But There's a Catch   March 28, 2005

I've bought two pairs of these headphones, and I love them. The sound quality is superb (particularly for the price), and they are exceptionally comfortable. However, I have encountered a serious flaw in the headphone design. The insulation at the point of separation for the wires tends to become detached, eventually, this means that the sound may cut out from one of the earpieces intermittently. Koss products have a lifetime warranty...but the shipping costs make the warranty a joke for headphones this cheap.
