Solid Product April 27, 2007 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
I am stationed in Turkey with the military, and bought a new $4,000 Sony LCD from our local store. Needless to say that even a $4,000 TV won't display the European PAL signal. Sony said it was b/c the TV is the new 1080P version (which is what I bought it for) but that as of right now those won't show a PAL signal. I ordered an analog converter for $30, but it only fixed one of my problems. My TV was encountering two different problems. 1. There was no color 2. The image was just scrolling down the screen
The analog only fixed the color problem, so I ended up spending the extra money and going with this one..which is digital. As soon as I hooked it up both problems were fixed. The only problem I see if the video quality isn't that great. You have to think about what it's doing though, it's switching viewing systems from PAL to NTSC (which NTSC will never look as good due to less lines per frame). All in all...it's a well made, solid piece of equipment with lots of options to fix your problem.
