Doesn't work. No customer support. Don't buy! September 25, 2005 22 out of 23 found this review helpful
I bought this to convert a bunch of VHS-C tapes to digital format, and it never worked. I immediately contacted Buslink, who gave me an RMA, and I figured I'd have a new one within a week. I was wrong. A month later, after many emails, they simply repackaged the same item I sent them and mailed it back. And, of course, it still doesn't work.
I can understand defective items. Really, it happens. But a month to get the same defective item back? How poor of Buslink is that?
I have bought my first and last Buslink item. Really, it's not so much the item itself as it is the customer service.
Based on my own experience, I'd recommend the Turtle Beach instead of this.
I am now trying to get my money back. Wish me well. When I call Buslink customer service (dozens of times for me now), it's busy 100% of the time.
Don't buy this item.
The way the item is supposed to work is that when it detects a video signal, it is supposed to make a light flash, at which point it sends a signal over USB 2.0 connection. The yellow light never flashes; then, when the software runs, if you try to capture video, the software does the old "Send error report to Microsoft?" dialog.

To follow up on my first posting, Buslink will not, under any circumstances, issue a refund. I suggest not doing business with this company. To recap, the item did not work from day 1, and rather than returning the item to the retailer, I sent it to Buslink. However, it took more than 30 days for them to send me a replacement (and the replacement was not in retail condition!), by which time I could not return it to the retailer. So, I'm out $90.
Don't let it cost you $90 to find out that Buslink's customer service department is still operating in the Dark Ages. They are a plague on the computer industry.
