Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Overheating laptops are a bigger problem than most people realize, as heat reduces system stability and harms the lifespan of your electronics. To combat this problem, you need the Antec Notebook Cooler! Increasing the cooling your laptop gets can help it last longer, and may reduce or even eliminate system crashes.

4 out of 5 stars Inexpensive Fix   December 5, 2008
Picked up this notebook cooler for 11+shipping and its worth every penny for my NEW HP Pavillion, which notoriously run hot. Before the cooler my cpu ran from 45-65C. With the cooler it runs from 30-50C. Ive read reviews from other people who have not had as much success with this item as I have, so I should make a few points clear about why this has worked so well for me.

1) HP pavillion laptops have a history of running hot, so any way to add to the cooling is a bonus
2) Its winter time.

I use core temp v0.99.3 to monitor the temp.

So far so good, with rebate and it is as cheap as no name brand.
Shipping and packing is good. According to study, as long as you have a cooler, the hard drive last longer because of the cooling factor.

5 out of 5 stars WHY DIDN'T I BUY TWO?!?!??!   December 3, 2008
Lawd, this is the best thing I bought for black friday. I can finally type on my laptop without feeling like i'm touching a stove. And the best part - I barely notice it!!!

The only con is the strong blue light. Honestly, I might just get a small black sliver of tape and end that right there. Other than that, It's beautiful and I wish I would have bought 3-4 of these. One for my 360, one for my roommates, and one just to say I have an extra. This is no joke - it's worth the 25 dollars it is at right now (I paid like 11 for it)

3 out of 5 stars Great design but with a fatal flaw - read before buying!   December 2, 2008
OK let me cut to the chase here - before you buy this otherwise capable unit, CHECK YOUR LAPTOP FAN DIRECTION. The fans on the Antec notebook cooler only blow in one direction and they are not reversible. My laptop sucks air from the bottom and blows out the side port - unfortunately, the Antec notebook cooler sucks air from the top and blows down - the opposite direction of air flow from my Compaq laptop. This could be EASILY remedied by putting a switch or making the USB DC connector reversible. I can't believe no one thought of this before.

Otherwise, I like the design and apparent quality of the unit. It's plenty big for my 15.4" widescreen laptop. I'm going to try to solve the airflow problem by flipping the fans over if I can get into the unit without damaging it. Otherwise I am going to send it back as it will actually CREATE heating problems by reducing airflow.

3 out of 5 stars A couple more cons   December 2, 2008
The USB cable does not remain flush in the port. I have a Macbook and I find myself having to keep something on the cable to keep the cable positioned in such a way that the unit remains on. The second con is the the little rubber nubs that keep your laptop at a distance so that it can be cooled come out very easily and can be lost. I now have to contact the manufacturer about extra parts. This would be a fine product if manufacturer could improve on the minor flaws it has.
