Product Description This long-standing tradition was continued by writer-traveller Bruce Chatwin who used to buy his moleskines at an old Paris stationery shop in Rue de l'Ancienne Comedie where he would always stock up before embarking on one of his journeys. Over the years he had developed a veritable ritual. Before using them he would in fact number the pages, writing on the inside his name and at least two addresses across the world, and a message promising a reward for anyone finding and returning the notebook in case of it being lost. He even suggested this method to his friend Luis Sepulveda, when he gave him a precious moleskine as a present for a journey they were planning to undertake together in Patagonia. And there was no doubt as to how precious it was, given that at the time even the last moleskine manufacturer, a small family-run firm of Tours, had discontinued production in 1986. 'Le vrai moleskine n'est plus' was the short and curt statement of the owner of the stationery shop where Chatwin had ordered one hundred before leaving for Australia. Despite having literally swept up all the Moleskines he could find, they were not enough. Now, the moleskine is back again. This silent and discreet keeper of an extraordinary tradition, which has been missing for years, has set out again on its journey. A witness to contemporary nomadism, it can once again pass from one pocket to another to continue the adventure. The sequel still waits to be written and its blank pages are ready to tell the story.

Moleskine Music Notebook August 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been carrying this notebook around for the entire summer and can honestly say that it's useful as a sketchbook. I've jotted down some of the main themes of the tone poem i just finished first in the moleskine. What i wish is that the company would also make a music notebook in their larger format because while I can write down melodic fragments writing out anything that requires 2 or 3 voices is incredibly difficult on such small pages. On the whole I think I will buy another once I've filled my current one as even with the drawbacks of the size it beats carrying around folded up pieces of staff paper which invariably get worn out in ones pocket.
awsome.... for the portability June 6, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
great value and small size make this a no-brainer for people who need do things that involve creativity in their daily routine. For myself this product is awesome, I work a job that involves almost no mental involvement but pays well, so this Moleskine Music note book is great for working on daily solfege and composition projects. 8 stave's is more than enough, but I recommend a .04mm pen instead of pencil as pages smudge with pencil....just remember to wait for the ink to dry before closing the book.
For the composer on the go! February 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you write music, then you know inspiration strikes in unexpected places. This provides a useful way to transcribe these for later development. There's handy folder inside the cover for to-do lists too.

I purchased this notebook for my daughter who plays guitar and writes her own tunes and lyrics. It's great for her lessons, as her teacher can print out snippets for her to practice and she can record all her compositions in one place as well. It's high quality paper and durable cover will make for an archive she can treasure forever!

A nice music Journal. I would just like to see Moleskine expand their options for musicians. Offering this with Tabulature fits the way many guitarists take notes, or even facing "Blank" pages for songwriting.
Highly recommended for instructors. I make all of my students carry one for their lessons. I write my notes in their books as well as have them do their "Homework" in them. After a year, they have a nice history of the class. (And it fits easily into most cases and gig bags.
