Amazon.com Product Description The Panasonic SL-SX280 portable CD player has been designed to virtually eliminate skipping under normal listening conditions. It has a thin, lightweight traverse mechanism to minimize the influence of outside vibrations and a floating rubber construction to help absorb vibrations. Panasonic's Digital Servo system assures precise focus servo and tracking servo operation for even more resistance to vibrations. However, if a shock does occur, the 40-second backup memory will kick in, and your music will continue to play as if nothing happened. This gives you a near-perfect, skip-free listening environment. With just two AA batteries (not included), the SL-SX280 will give you up to 35 hours of playback time. This feature is not only economical, but also environmentally friendly, since it reduces battery consumption. Alternatively, you may power the player using an optional 4.5V AC/DC adapter. Other conveniences include a hold switch (which negates state changes during transport or listening), playback of recordable CD-R and CD-RW discs, programming options, random play, repeat play (one track or an entire disc), and XBS (Extra Bass System) to give your music an added bass boost. And, thanks to the player's heat-resistant polycarbonate body, you can use it outdoors with only minimal fear of damage. What's in the Box CD Player, stereo headphones, and a user's manual
Product Description Panasonic is proud to introduce a deluxe personal CD player. Up to 40 second anti-shock memory assures flawlessly smooth playback performance even while walking or jogging. Heat-resistant polycarbonate body is designed to withstand outdoor use. Panasonic's S-XBS (super extra bass system) provides rich dimensional sound through lightweight portable stereo headphones. Slide-lock full open top cover assures reliable security and easy CD changes. Using optional AA batteries, this CD player provides extended playtime of 35 hours, ensuring you'll have music whenever you need it. The digital servo system helps the unit maintain tracking, even in difficult circumstances and Panasonic's exclusive MASH 1-Bit D/A conversion system ensures all your CDs will sound great. The player also has CD-R/RW playback capability.

Great CD Player August 27, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'm not sure why people are giving this player the shaft. I've had this CD player for 3 years and it's played perfectly. I've dropped it several times on hard surfaces and it stills play perfectly. The headphones it comes with give great sound quality but on the other hand, are somewhat fragile. After 3 years of lugging it in my pocket, backpack, etc, they have started to fall apart so I recently spent $6 to buy sum new Sony ones. No big deal. Also this player DOES NOT support MP3 cds but will play regular audio cds and audio cds on CD-R/RW like a charm. A pair of AA batteries gives me about 30-35 hours of playback! It conserves energy very nicely. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a new CD player.
this sucks November 29, 2003 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
BEWARE! this thing is not worth the money! it breaks easily. im on amazon looking for a new cd player because this stupid piece of crap broke. for 50 bucks you can find a much better cd player that is more reliable and has better features.
Awesome October 22, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This Panasonic SL-SX280 is an awesome CD player. The anti-skip system rocks. The bass on this thing is so deep it sounds like you are listening to a big three piece stereo. It lasts realy long on just 2 AA batteries.
pretty good July 27, 2003 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
i find this product to be pretty good, except that as stated before by others, it does seem to skip. also, most of the time i have the have the volume on at 25 (which is max) and i usually still can't hear my music all that well. other than that, it is a pretty good cd player. when you in the middle of a cd and put it back in it will start where you left off, and i especially enjoy that.
