Amazon.com Product Description Panasonic's SL-SW899V ShockWave CD player-radio has a rugged aluminum shell and a thin, compact, water-resistant design for outdoor use. It has a one-touch lock-and-release system that is designed to play even when things get rough on the trail. The most important feature in this model is its antishock memory system. This feature reduces skips before they even get to the memory buffer. It has an improved set of error-correction chips offering +100 percent and -75 percent error correction. It uses a digital servo in conjunction with a lighter and faster spindle motor that offers fast retracking speed. For ultimate versatility, the SL-SW899V has an AM/FM digitally synthesized tuner that ensures stations won't drift once they are set. You can also preset up to 30 stations, 20 FM and 10 AM. There are five preset buttons so you don't have to search for your favorite station every time. A hold switch prevents you from unintentionally hitting Stop while the CD is playing or from accidentally changing the programming. In addition, you can save your batteries from drain with the power-saving auto power-off function. The batteries will last for up to 25 hours of playback. This model includes adjustable stereo headphones, an AC adapter, and a jogger grip. The Panasonic SL-SW899V features 24-track random-access programming, repeat of one or all tracks, skip and search, and memory and recall keys, as well as resume play and random play.

The best CD player that I have ever had. September 23, 2002 This CD player is the best for the money. It may seem a little high but well worth it.It has never skiped on me once even with it in my side pocket of my shorts while riding my bike. Even when I dropped it in my pool it still plays perfect. Over all the Best.

It can play burned CD's, a radio, optional buttons all over the place, a remote control, and a 25 hour Battery Life!!!! What more can you ask, buy it now.
Not bad.. April 10, 2002 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
Overall, the Cd player is very good. The overall build of the player feels very solid. however, the locks/latches break VERY easily. mine broke and the ones i've seen at several stores are also broken. The radio reception is great. The sound quality is pretty good. the provided headphones are TERRIBLE. they hurt after use. It's pretty hard to make this cd player skip. hasn't even skipped once on me yet. overall, a great buy. the things i have problem with is the price and the flimisiness of the latches.
The best one out there! April 3, 2002 9 out of 11 found this review helpful
I bought this cd player when no one really liked it. I decided to buy it myself and so far i have had it for a year and a half. The buttons are easy to use, you also have a very hard protective shield. For example i have a friend who always drops my cd player on the bus. And even through that it lives! And believe me she drops it almost everyday. Just dont throw it against something on purpose just to make sure it will not break. Ok so the radio isn't that hot. but the stations i listen to come through clearly. and a piece of advice. Do Not play the radio by a power line even though i don't know who would... It's just a piece of advice. You barely ever need the manual, cause it's that easy to use. And also the headphones stink! Throw them away and buy a new pair. I have really good ones and they only cost probably ...[a few bucks]. So just go out and buy this cd player!!!! I get compliments all the time on how cool this cd player is. So if anything buy this cd player. even though after i listed the headphones stink and the radio is ok, you probably think i would've rated this product a 4 or 3. Well unlike everyone else i love this cd player and i wouldn't trade it in for any other!!!! Go buy it, it's great!
