3 out of 5 stars Works Good But....   June 3, 2004
I have had this CD player for about 5 years now and it still works the same as when I bought it. I replaced the headphones for the ones that go in the ears and it sounded better. I like the hold feature because it prevents it from changing the way I have the sound level or accidently skip to the next song with the player in my back pocket. It's never skiped on me when I was walking eather, but depending on how hard I was running it would sometimes but not often. It's NOT CD R or CD RW capable I have to press the next button for most of my burned CDs nor to hear the next song. You can't program this cd player to play serton songs and skip others but it has play repeat, repeat one, and shuffle. It has a bass boost of two. It dosn't have a clip like some others I have seen to be placed on the bealt, but it fits in the back pocket well. I am looking to replace this CD player with a new one that has some of the same features but with ( CD R and CD RW capability, track programing, and belt clip) which this one is sadly missing but it worked well for my teen years.

5 out of 5 stars Best Yet   February 5, 2002

I am currently mourning the loss of this particular CD player. Turned my back on it for not more than two seconds, and it was gone. Sad? Yes. Would I buy the same one to replace it. OF COURSE!

I bought this CD player as a replacement for one that I had worn out. At the time, it was only because I loved it's fire-engine red color and was attracted by the price ($35 on sale at Record Town). After I cut open the packaging, inserted the batteries and slipped in a CD, I knew that this was the player for me. The sound quality was much better than any of the other players I'd had and it never skipped. Not once. I was amazed.

After a few months, I replaced the headphones. The ones it came with worked just fine, but I wanted ones that fit in your ears. No biggie. This is a fantastic portable machine that sounds like a full stereo. Amazing sound quality. Great bass boost. For your money, this player really packs a punch.

5 out of 5 stars Great Value   January 1, 2002

I bought this specific cd player because it was the best value. It weighs only 7.3 ounces and is 1 1/16 inches tall. To start off, it's 48-second ESPMAX anti-shock hasn't skipped yet. I turned it upside down and dropped it on the floor, the cd slipped out of it's pivot and the player kept on playing for a few more seconds. I can't believe Sony can make a better anti-shock system (G-Protection). It has great two-level digital MEGA BASS sound. Don't worry, your settings will be remembered every time you turn it on unlike most players around this price. It also has digital volume for precise sound levels. Since it has digital volume, Sony decided to have a hold switch to lock your settings against any any accidental operations. It also has AVLS to limit your maximum volume. You can connect this player to other stereo equipment with a connecting cord though the headphone jack. You can also connect the cd player to a car cassette deck with a car conecting pack and a car battery cord (not included). While almost all cd players have a low battery indicator that pops up when there is only a few seconds left of batteries, this player has a battery indicator that is always on that shows about how many fourths of the batteries are left. The battery life of this player is 25 hours with ESP off or 24 hours with ESP on. My favorite features on this player are its digital volume, one-of-a-kind battery indicator, and hold switch. You will also greatly enjoy them. Now about what the buttons do from left to right. Its headphone jack is on the left side of the cd player, the open button is the half-circle shaped button on the left part of the the player, farther right are the volume down and up buttons with the hold switch below them. Between the volume buttons and the display screen is the sound button. The sound button is for the digital mega bass or for the AVLS is you hold it down for a second. Then when you pass over the display screen you get to the menu button. The menu button is for your 5 different play modes, normal, repeat (all tracks), single track, repeat play (single track), and repeat shuffle play. Note that there isn't track programming on this particular unit. Then farther right you see the stop button (also a pause button for the resume feature). Farther right you get to the button that searches backwards, goes to the beginning of the current track or goes to the beginning of previous tracks if you press it repeatedly. Farther right is the play button which also searches forward through the current track or goes to upcoming tracks if pressed repeatedly. And finally on right side of the cd player is the DC IN 4.5 V input. Thanks for reading.

5 out of 5 stars Sony Walkman   December 29, 2001

Probably the best thing about this cd player is the ESP Max(the no skip protection). I was very happy to find that this cd player would not ruin my music like my old one. Also, I was very happy to find the controls responded very nicely. The headphones that come with it are actually better than they look. My friend says that the Sony Street Style headphones sound a lot better, but I couldn't tell the difference(I usually don't listen to my friend anyways). What really attracted me was the cool color and the sleek design. The most amazing thing is it is only [price]. I highly recommend this cd player if you are a person looking for one to buy.
