Amazon.com Product Description With Sony's full-circle D-EJ106CK you get not only great sound and extensive features but a complete car-listening kit, as well, including audio and power adapters and an in-car remote. And at a stunning .625 inches thick, this Walkman nevertheless lives up to its name, traveling with equal ease in your pocket, purse, or backpack. Playback options include 32-track programming, repeat (track, disc, or program), random play, and an amazing 50 hours of playback from a pair of standard AA batteries (not included). "Active use" is a key phrase for this player: Sony's Skip-Free G-Protection boosts the laser pickup's shock protection to minimize read errors that would otherwise interrupt your music, providing quick recovery from both horizontal and vertical shocks. The D-EJ106CK's heat-resistant lid helps protect the player against high-temperature build up, especially when you're using it outdoors or in a vehicle. You can hook the player up with your home system through an optional analog stereo "Y" interconnect, using the supplied AC/DC power adapter to conserve batteries when you're indoors. Should your music require it, the Walkman's Digital Mega Bass Sound engages digital processing to enhance your music with deep, authentic bass tones. Bookmark playback lets you program your favorite songs from multiple CDs and play them back at the touch of a button, and Sony's automatic volume limiter system (AVLS) conserves batteries--and guards your hearing--by capping your listening level at either of two settings. What's in the Box CD player, MDR-027LP stereo headphones, an AC/DC power adapter, a car kit (including cassette-shell audio adapter, DC power adapter, remote control, and Velcro adhesive tape), a user's manual, and warranty information.
Product Description The ultimate in portability, the D-EJ106CK includes car kit accessories and an AC adapter to keep you plugged in wherever you are. A car remote control provides easy playback operation while in the car, and Skip-Free G-Protection Technology helps your CDs stay on track even when the road is bumpy. It offers over 50 hours of continuous playback with 2 "AA" batteries, 10 playback modes, and a Heat Resistant Lid, which protects against high temperature build-up.

Almost a Buyer of this April 11, 2005 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Why would anyone fork over 60 bucks for this, when much cheaper options are available for allowing you to play a CD Player through an existing cassette tape player. Makes no sense.
Oh, I get it, High profits for Sony, lol.
What's with the BEEPS?! April 7, 2005 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow, what a lousy CD player! I don't know about the sound quality coming out of the headphones, but the noise coming out of this unit through the cassett adaptor is unacceptable. What's even worse, if you were to change tracks or pause, there's a SCREECHING loud BEEPING noise. What's with that?! Stay away from this one folks.
Decent CD Player March 27, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this CD player at Best Buy using a $25 gift certificate I received for Christmas, and I also layed down $10 more for a 2-year warranty (hard to turn down), which is good for repairs or replacements at Best Buy. This is a good CD player for the price. The sound is excellent, especially with the bass boost on. It sounds great coming from my 6 1/2" Infinity speakers. The car accessories that come with it are pretty nifty, too. I was torn between buying an in-dash CD player and this, but all-in-all I'm happy with my purchase. It works out especially well for me, since I am allowed to listen to music while I'm at work. Most of my day is spent working, so I'm definitely getting my money's worth. There are a couple of drawbacks, though. The button to open the CD player pretty much sucks, especially when you're trying to open it while you're driving. It can be a downright dangerous task at times. The volume contol buttons aren't much good either because they're really small and are also a pain to mess with while driving. The good outweighs the bad, though, so in my opinion it's worth the money.
Walkman EJ106CK not up to Sony past standards January 9, 2005 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've owned Sony Walkman CD players in the past that were really good and performed well in my car. When my last unit started to have some problems, I immediate bought another Sony, assuming equally good functionality. NOT. This unit has no backlight - try to change tracks in the dark car. The BIGGEST problem for me is that there is no "resume" function as in past units and no way to retain settings. When you disconnect the power source (as in shutting off the car) you lose volume settings and track settings so the unit always goes back to track 1 as opposed to resuming where you left off. There's an annoying beep if you change from one track to another also. You can turn that off but then when you shut your car off, the setting is lost and you have to reset the "beep off" setting. Lastly, the unit is hard to open. Not a problem if you're using it on a walk but a big problem if you're trying to change CDs at a stop light in your car or trying to do it in the dark. While the anti-skip protection is great and the sound is reasonably good, there just have to be better buys out there.

This CD player has no line out jack, only audio out (headphone jack). So, you need to turn up the volume on the CD player and turn down the volume on your car stereo to get reasonable audio quality on your car stereo using the cassette adapter. Unless you keep the CD player connected to a power source (either to car's 12V outlet using the supplied power adapter or 2 AA batteries), it does not remember the volume setting so you'll have to readjust it on next power up. Also, this unit feels flimsy and seems like it won't hold up more than about a month. Only comes with a 90 day warrantee. All in all, a piece of junk. Not worth $60!!
