Cover Flow
If a picture says a thousand words, think of what all the album art in your collection might say. With Cover Flow on iPod nano, you can flip through your music to find the album you want to hear. Use the Click Wheel to browse music by album cover, then select an album to flip it over and see the track list.

In addition to listening to music you can now enjoy TV shows, movies, video podcasts, and more. View iPod nano dimensions.

The iPod nano comes in a host of exciting new colors.

Play up to 5 hours of video or up to 24 hours of audio on one charge. View larger.
Music
Use the Click Wheel to adjust volume, navigate songs, browse in Cover Flow, or explore the Music menu by playlist, artist, album, song, genre, composer, and more. Want to mix things up? Click Shuffle Songs. iPod nano makes your music look as good as it sounds, thanks to its bright color display.

Movies
Buy movies from the iTunes Store and you can sync them to your iPod nano to watch anywhere, anytime. Up to 5 hours of video playback means you can watch two movies back to back. And for your viewing pleasure, the 320-by-240-pixel display--with a whopping 204 pixels per inch--is 65 percent brighter than before.

TV Shows
There's always something good on iPod nano. Browse thousands of episodes of your favorite TV shows on the iTunes Store, buy them for just $1.99 each, then sync them to your iPod nano. Watch last night's episodes this morning, or buy a whole TV series and play a pocket-size marathon.

Podcasts
The iTunes Store features thousands of free video and audio podcasts, including indie favorites and offerings from such big names as ABC News, Comedy Central, ESPN, PBS, NPR, and many more. Browse and subscribe to podcasts, then sync them to your iPod nano. You can even play video podcasts on TV using an optional Apple component or composite AV cable.

Audiobooks
The digital shelves of the iTunes Store are stocked with thousands of audiobooks--including exclusives like the entire Harry Potter series--so you can catch up on your reading wherever iPod nano takes you. iPod nano even recognizes where you left off reading and bookmarks your place.

Games
Put hours of fun at your fingertips. iPod nano comes with three games--Vortex, iQuiz, and Klondike--and you can download more from the iTunes Store for $4.99 each. All iPod games are designed specifically for the iPod interface. And all of them look great on the 2-inch color display.

Photos
iPod nano holds up to 7,000 photos you can sync from your Mac or PC via iTunes. Use the Click Wheel to scroll through photo thumbnails. To see a photo full screen, click the center button. You can even view your photo slideshows--complete with music and transitions--on a TV using an optional Apple component or composite AV cable.

Extras
Calendars, contacts, and a screen lock appear in the Extras menu, along with a few more handy items. Take the world clock, for example. Spin the Click Wheel to choose different clocks for cities all over the world. For workouts, use the built-in stopwatch to log your best times.

4 out of 5 stars headphones pretty lame   August 28, 2008
While I am thrilled with the nano iself, the headphones are incredibly inadequate. The right one fell apart the 2nd week I had the nano and the left is all static.......very disappointed in the headphones, thrilled with the nano.

4 out of 5 stars Good proportions for small hands   August 27, 2008

I am very happy with my purchase. It's small enough to fit in my pocket and not so unweildy that when i'm commuting on the train carrying a ton of things, it's not difficult at all to carry/balance everything so that I can change the song. Originally, I was going to purchase the 4 GB but I felt like I was getting more for my money by getting the 8GB.

Dunno why the headphone port is on the bottom...And I only hope that these IPod headphones last longer than the headphones from my last 20 GB IPod.

5 out of 5 stars Love the iPod   August 26, 2008
My only complaint with the 8G Nano iPod is the earphones. The left one doesn't like to stay in. And to get full sound I have to hold them in place. I've been researching other types of ear buds and earphones and don't know quite what to do. Meanwhile I LOVE my iPod.

1 out of 5 stars Uncompatible   August 25, 2008

This ipod was incompatible with my Mac operating system so I returned it. The seller should state which Mac operating systems these ipods will work with. Overall an unsatisfactory experience.

3 out of 5 stars Why doesn't it have a "Top 25 most played" option?   August 25, 2008
or a Recently Added option, (etc.) like other iPods have? And why doesn't it let you see the details of how large the files are, and what type of song the current song playing is (like a Zen Vision: M has)? The time zone thing doesn't even give me a close enough (and accurate) city so I can get the right time! v_v

Yes, it's a nice mp3 player overall, but it was missing some of these things that my Zen Vision: M had and by now, I consider them essentials. It's rather new so I figured that you'd at least be able to go to another window to see some of what I complained about in the beginning.

Still, the cover flow feature is very nice (although it takes some time to fill in) and iTunes is a great way to use and put music onto your iPod, which is why I got an iPod in the first place to take place of the Zen that can no longer add anything else to it (it's "broken").

Just remember that you have to start your player over, by pressing the menu and middle circle button together for a few seconds to restart it while trying to connect it to put content on or charge it or it will freeze.

I'm also gonna say that there is also a problem with cover art showing black sometimes. I don't buy all of my music "fairly", so I use methods like coming to amazon for cover art as a detour. It works most of the time but for instance, there's a total black block in the space where Jesse McCartney's "Departure" album art should be. I have tried using amazon's artwork, google's and possibly yahoo's but none work!

All in all, if you just want a decent mp3 player, you can put trust in an iPod nano (3rd generation). Is it worth the big 150+ price tag? Not quite but it's close.

3.7 stars.

end note: And how come in the options there's a radio option to turn off and on but then you turn it on and in the menu it isn't there? This may be slicker and smaller, but if I was to be forced to choose, I'd say that the Zen Vision: M is better (by Creative). And as far as the smallness goes, that hurts more than helps because I'll put it somewhere and forget where it is! Honestly though, I do like the sleek thinness.
