Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The world's lightest, thinnest and only water-resistant and heat-resistant USB flash drive is now 50% FASTER with Vista Boost Certified!. The Super Stick is convenient enough for consumers to carry anywhere, and its trendy design makes it a great mobile phone strap accessory, necklace or keychain. It can even be stored in a wallet. The Super Stick is so small that it measures and weights about the size of a paper clip. It works with USB 2.0, allowing for the high-speed transfer of documents and data in your day-to-day work. The Super Stick is made to last using a patented packaging technology that is stronger than plastic or aluminum casing. In fact there is no casing; it is built directly into the sealed substrate making it resistant to water, heat and shock, virtually indestructible. Plus no snap-on cap is needed. Hate those bulky flash drives that end up losing or forgetting. Finally an USB flash drive that you can hold onto with no hassle. Revolutionary size and an amazing price make the Super Stick the ultimate buy for a USB flash drive.

5 out of 5 stars I Approve   September 6, 2008
It was time to replace my 2 Gig thumb drive, and durability was a factor. This little device seemed promising (although as a friend pointed out, it's more of a thumbnail drive than a thumb drive), and it was priced very competitively. I'm glad I bought it.

I laughed when I read words like "stylish" and "sleek" in the marketing description (it's a tool!), but those words are surprisingly relevant. When I use it, it often becomes a topic of conversation, and I enjoy showing it to other geeks (who usually want to know where they can get one).

I've had no issues with the device's reliability or durability, but I haven't stress tested it.

Another reviewer mentioned a couple "negative" points that are worth considering:
1. It does go in horizontal USB slots upside-down from the way I initially guessed--the printing goes face-down. Since it doesn't have the usual USB housing, you can easily insert it incorrectly. Doing so causes no damage though--it's just a minor initial usability issue.

2. Its size and weight make it easy to forget or drop without noticing, so it's probably a good idea to attach it to something else you carry with you.

Those characteristics aren't necessarily problems, but it helps to be aware of them.

1 out of 5 stars Died in under a month   September 1, 2008
I bought two of these last month. I really enjoyed using it, especially as a Vista Boost drive. The other day, I shut down my system as usual, and when I booted the next day and plugged in the KingMax, it showed up as a 0 byte drive. I tried it on two other systems with the same result. I have emailed the vendor and requested a replacement, but I know I'll never trust the drive to contain the only copy of whatever I store on it.

3 out of 5 stars Not as bulletproof as they claim   September 1, 2008

I bought the 8GB as a replacement for an old 1GB KingMax of similar dimensions.

Tiny has its advantages and disadvantages. Being small, it's quite easily carried around, even on a keychain, which adds to its appeal. The disadvantage is that it can just as easily go missing, prompting me to get a similar, albeit larger capacity model.

Again, taking extra care to make sure it is secured on my keychain with a keyring from an old donor keychain, the KingMax 8GB Super Stick only provided about a month or so of usefulness until a tiny crack appeared on the casing.

While the unit is still operational, the crack was just at the point where the circuitry is attached to the casing (denoted by the slight gray coloured area on the underside). This appears to compromise the water-resistance of the unit which I don't want to test.

That said, the unit is now relegated to home duties as a quick backup unit.

I have replaced this with a steel-cased "Super Talent Pico-C Rugged 8GB" unit (you have to love the way these guys choose names).

5 out of 5 stars Sweet   August 25, 2008
I purchase the 8gb about two months ago and I've used it in both mac's and PC's. I'm a fire figther instructor and I have put all my classes on my super stick. It has worked perfectly every time I have needed it to. I'm going to purchase a couple more just for backup's in case I lose one. They are very small but very big on performance.

4 out of 5 stars Great thumb drive - The cover has issues   August 24, 2008
I had one of the 1G thumb drives from Kingmax for years before I finally lost it. I replaced it with this one. The only problem I have with it is the protective case. The first one I had came with a thin rubber sleeve, and I could easily slip the drive into my wallet. This one came with a bulky pick rubber case with hearts and skirts. The bulkiness makes it impossible to put in my wallet, and the pinkness and 13-year-old-girliness of the case makes it impossible to take it out at work without enduring endless comments (I know it's juvenile, but it's true). I'm still working on finding a way to make a case for it myself, because a protective case for something like this really is necessary.
