Great Price - Great Design November 17, 2008 If minimalistic is your style then this is the product for you. Looks great. Works wonderfully with the decor.
looks good on the wall, but upon further inspection... November 5, 2008 nice looking unit, pretty easy to assemble, although the instructions are a little vague. hiding of cables still leaves a little to be desired. overall i would say it is definitely worth the price here on amazon, however, probably not worth the $199 retail price you will find it selling for in regular stores.
Some Plusses & Minuses October 21, 2008 For the most part I'm very pleased with this mount - the basic installation was very straight-forward and all my equipment looks great on it. Unfortunately, I have to agree with many other reviews concerning the cable routing: it's nearly worthless - not enough space for most of my cabling and it's a pain to get locked in place with the wiring installed. (Minor peeve: the rubber tabs that are glued onto the "arms" start to come off about 3 seconds after applying so I had to keep sticking them down as I added the shelves.)
Shelves tilt precariously at even 1/4 weight limit September 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The 3-shelf Omni-mount is useless. It is rated in the documentation at 30 lbs per shelf (90 lbs total). However at even a quarter of that weight, the shelves tilt downwards at the front under the weight - unsafe, and looks stupid. An amp on a shelf which is approaching the weight limit has a significant tilt.
As other reviewers note, the cable covers aren't able to cover more than a couple of cables.
The concept and appearance of this is nice, However it simply doesn't deliver.
Beatiful and easy to install August 3, 2008 I just bought a new flat panel television and chose the OmniMount Cantilever UCL-X to put it up on the wall. This TV mount came highly recommended by another customer and I know why - it's awesome!
These shelves seemed like a natural choice after selecting the mount.
My only complaint is that one of the cable covers (the wide plastic pieces that cover the middle) came damaged. To OmniMount's credit, I wrote an email and received a phonecall within 24 hours. The Customer Service person I spoke with was great and they sent a replacement right away. Hassle free! They also committed to reviewing their shipping practices - all in all, a great experience with the company itself.
The shelves were easy to install (especially after carefully walking throuhg the Cantilever direction since mounting both units to the wall were practically identical) and the finished product looks great.
Elegant and modern!
Where they didn't satisfy me perfectly was the 30lbs limit for each shelf. Because they're tempered glass they have a weight restriction. My intention for the shelves were HD Receiver, DVD player, Home Theatre receiver. But my Home Theatre receiver is a bit of a brute and it weighs in at 28lbs. I tried it there but the shelf dipped down a little and it looked goofy. Plus I was afraid that after hooking up all the cables that would add more that 2lbs of extra weight and then someone walking over and putting their hand on the unit might crash that shelf. I have no evidence that the shelf would actually break right at 30lbs since the support is metal but my mind ran through that scenario.
So I moved my receiver down to my coffee table sized sub-woofer and moved my center channel speaker up to the shelf. It looks great!
All is working beautfiully and, as promised, once the cables are hidden behind the cable channel guides the unit is gorgeous!
I would highly recommend this shelf system for anyone using modern components that won't tax the shelves (20lbs or less) as it looks fantastic and is quality made AND the company is great!
