I agree with everything said by the previous reviewer, so this is just some collaborative information to give you more confidence of this excellent LCD stand. A few more points:
(1) If you don't already realize, this stand allows you to mount your LCD in the portrait mode, which is the way I use it for a 17 inch LCD as a secondary display on side of a larger 21 inch display. But please note that the stand does not allow you to pivot from landscape to portrait or vice versa. You can do either way when you mount the display, but once the display is mounted, you can't pivot between the two modes. You will have to dismount and re-mount to change the mode if you need to. In my case, the display stays in portrait mode, so it does not bother me. But if you will need to switch back and forth between landscape and portrait modes, you'd better find an LCD display that has a built-in pivotable stand.
(2) On the other hand, the stand does allow you to tilt the LCD panel.
(3) The height adjustment works pretty well and is well described in the previous review. It does stay put if you don't move the LCD. There is a screw to adjust how firm the height stays put, but even with that, the height is easily changed if you move the LCD. Again, because I don't move my LCDs so frequently, it works fine.
(4) In order to use the stand, your LCD display must be VESA compatible, meaning that it must have proper mounting holes on the back. I did not know it, but it turned out that most LCD displays made today are VESA compatible. Good example of the industrial collaboration on standards.
(5) In addition to the excellent functionality, the stand is of very good quality. When I bought it, I was reluctant but had to buy it because it seemed to be the only way for me to use my present LCD in a portrait mode. I figured that the stand was probably worth of $15-$20 but with a $30 extra markup for its oddity. This is a typical scenario for buying accessories. You know you are paying 10 dollars for something that would have cost less than two dollars if included in the origin equipment, but you have no choice after having already made the initial investment on the main equipment. Well, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the stand. I feel I probably would be gladly paying $45 for it even if I was not under coercion.
Excellent LCD monitor stand May 29, 2006

I purchased the Ergotron Neo-Flex LCD Stand ( 33-288-CBL ) and it's an excellent LCD monitor stand when combined with my Viewsonic VW2025WM. It's a great stand and will allow you to lower the height of this LCD all the way onto the desk surface (which is how I like it. The top edge of a monitor should be about 1" to 2" below your own eye level for better ergonomics / less neck strain) or raise the LCD monitor higher above the desk. The stand also allows for forward/backward tilt, and 180 degree pivot for vertical viewing. The height adjusts using a pressurized piston. All you do is lift the monitor up or push down and that adjusts the height very easily.
I recommend buying the Ergotron Neo-Flex stand if you need a flexible monitor stand rather than the fixed stand that comes with your LCD monitor. The stand is available for purchase here on Amazon.com
My only complaint is that when you pick up the monitor to move it, or you need to lay the LCD monitor flat (for hooking up cables or whatever), the stand extends to full height. Again, this LCD stand's height control mechanism is a pressurized piston that is held down by the weight of the monitor. It has enough friction that you can raise or lower the height and it holds that new height without moving, but there is no way to mechanically lock the height adjustment in place.
It would be annoying only if you need to move the monitor around often, otherwise it's convenient for adjusting the height easily when cleaning around the monitor, because there are no lecers, screws or dials to mess with. My only suggestion would be for them to add some little switch or lever so that the height locks in place if you really need to.
